  1. There was no way to know at the time, but if I knew how good this league would be I would have paid a fair bit of money to enter. You can't find leagues this good, and it's provided countless hours of entertainment.
  2. The BBDL got $100.... so more than that.
  3. I wonder how many people would be interested if a DDL spot opened up.
  4. It looks like we're going to enter our 3rd season with all 20 original members. I've never seen anything like this before.
  5. It's all tied together though. To quote an idiot, baseball is hard. Punting the future to open up a 3-year window is a bad strategy because things tend not to go as planned. Make your goal perpetual contention, and eventually things will go right. Reyes, Dickey, and Buehrle have performed as expected and earned their contracts, but you can't give up a significant amount of assets just to land expensive veterans who will merely be worth their contracts. That's bad business long term. and if things don't break just right in the 1-2 year window you open up, it's catastrophic.
  6. Can he also be ineligible to manage? That would be great.
  7. Well you were like 3 when he was hired and 11 when he was fired, so nobody really blames you.
  8. in: Kemp + Billingsley + Lincecum + payroll space out: Wells and Rios What could have been.
  9. Kemp and Billingsley IIRC
  10. Pirates or Padres is my guess.
  11. If either happens, JPR is still GM.
  12. Also, if he had the payroll and draft budget that AA has been allowed, relative to the rest of the league. AA has been given a lot more opportunity for success by ownership, and so far the results have been worse than what JPR accomplished with less.
  13. That, and Morrow probably stills sees himself as a starter. He'll probably go to the NL on a cheap 1-year deal and try to re-establish some value.
  14. I can't wait to see what kind of resources go into the bullpen this year. I suspect we'll see 3-4 additions of the Rogers/Coco/Francisco variety.
  15. Hopefully the reverse doesn't happen after you turned down Gio for Belt and then traded him for Hos.
  16. Anyone remember what FTD got for Hos?
  17. A 20 point career wRC+ gap is a pretty significant difference. Hosmer is two years younger, but he'll be 25 in October and just put up a 100 wRC+ season. At this point I'd easily take Belt.
  18. I considered it, but a healthy Trumbo should be pretty close to a lock for 30+ home runs, and I need that power.
  19. Now Gibby talking about how the team didn't win because they simply weren't good enough, and crediting Baltimore's defense for being a lot better than theirs. Every time he talks I can't help but like him. I can't believe how many people think he's a problem.
  20. Wow. Not exactly an endorsement from Gibby.
  21. I really like Aoki as a player. Plus OF defender, average hitter who can get on base, and is a very tough out who can really handle the bat. I'd love for the team to sign him and let Melky go. He'll probably earn less than half of what Melky gets, might be the better player, and would allow the team to net a comp pick while not losing anything in LF.
  22. Wait, Edinson Volquez has given Pittsburgh almost 200 innings of 3 ERA ball this year?
  23. also worthy of consideration: #top10catcher it's not lying if we know the truth connorp
