  1. Porcello gave up his age-27-30 free agent years. Kluber gave up four years of team control. The two situations aren't comparable.
  2. Meh. Boston is betting on a 27-year old with no history of arm trouble and a ~3.5 xFIP over the last three years. Their analytics guys obviously believe he's a 3.5 ERA guy they can count on for 30 starts a year. If he pitches to his peripherals again this year there's no way you get him for 4/80.
  3. I'm calling it: Dallas Keuchel has the best facial hair in baseball. It was good last year, but it's on another level right now.
  4. Braun left with a ribcage injury. This story is so familiar - abdominal strains all year last year.
  5. He's throwing complete trash. I haven't seen him higher than 84.
  6. Jered Weaver is throwing absolute garbage at Seattle. Sitting 84 on his 4-seam fastball.
  7. 0-11 True Cardinals have picked up where they left off!
  8. Flawless game so far. Hutch has been great, no mistakes from the defense, and the lineup has worn Tanaka down.
  9. And it's not even down. He sat 91 last year, and is around there now.
  10. According to Zaun, Price and Lester leaving the AL East makes the Jays 5-8 wins better. Please take this man off my TV.
  11. Navarro and his career 78 wRC+ vs. RHP in at DH vs. Tanaka, while Smoak (who is probably 10+ runs better defensively than Edwin at 1B) rides the pine. Goddammit Gibby.
  12. Ugh, silvergun just made a great deal.
  13. It really is unbelievable how bad he is at his job. I think he has accrued several years of leash with management before he can be fired though. Should provide great entertainment.
  14. Ned Yost planning to hit Mike Moustakas 2nd. Dat projected 98 wRC+ and 0.299 OBP.
  15. uh...
  16. I think Estrada is going to surprise people. I could see him approaching 2 wins as starter or finding his way into a high-leverage role as a reliever.
  17. Forgot him. Below replacement over like 70 IP.
  18. Norris = 160 IP 1.7 fWAR Castro = 45 IP 0.3 fWAR Osuna = 35 IP 0.1 fWAR Sanchez = 70 IP -0.3 fWAR Pompey = 550 PA 1.6 fWAR Travis = 350 PA 1.1 fWAR
  19. They tried four doctors, and none wanted to cut into him for a minor tear. I read an article a few weeks back suggesting that as many as 40% of MLB pitchers are pitching with a partially torn UCL, and they're either not diagnosed, or diagnosed and not made public.
  20. Looking forward to watching him on Monday. He only averaged 91 on his 4-seamer last year and it was by far his worst pitch. If he can clean up his mechanics at a cost of 1-2 mph of velo on the 4-seamer, it might not hurt a whole lot, especially if the 2-seamer is a plus pitch. Big question is whether the splitter becomes less dangerous if not being thrown off the fastball.
