To be fair to your argument, Iran and Iraq had a long standing tension going on, what you're not understanding is that Saddam had attacked Iran first of course the Kurds were going to stage a rebellion, but they only turned on the government after Iraq had started the war. This is not subjective info, look it up on Wikipedia I get it, you are Iraqi and Hussein did some good things for the country, like Castro, Stalin or Mao, but like them he was still insane and power hungry.

Wrong, he dropped nerve gas on a city full of civilians, not extremists. Secondly, you can't say, "well look what the US did" because I will say as well that the US used despicable gunboat diplomacy, but technically the Kurds were still Iraqi citizens. His army went and killed denominations, giving people seats in office doesn't justify that, even when those people are fighting back against a repressive governement. You're victim blaming here. Why exactly did Iraq get the sanctions put on them I wonder? Either way I'm sensing some underlying Stockholm syndrome.

Look up the Halabja gas attack. He treated the Kurds with as much respect as Hitler did with the Jews. He repressed and killed members of other Muslim denominations. It was pretty damn hard for Citizens to leave the country unless they were well off. Massacres were done for a fun weekend. The guy was practically a Stalinist.
