  1. They are just trying to save face, only to stab their fan base in the face again when it suits them, that's their MO.
  2. With full no trade I believe. Doesn't matter though, he will be demanding one in a couple years after their next fire sale.
  3. And then they will trade him next year, lol.
  4. Yeah no need to overpay. His price should come down and if he is talking hometown discount then 3/39 seems about right.
  5. Yeah I tend to agree. He is in a spot right now where this team is on the verge of being a contender for 2015 and shedding a ton of payroll after that. I think he learned a harsh lesson from those blockbuster trades and is trending back towards value contious moves. I want to see how this winter plays out, but I don't think he is anywhere near done just yet.
  6. This is why I never understood all the doom and gloom guys. Sure we lost a lot of talent a couple winters ago, but the farm has been rising again and we have no huge payroll commitments other than Reyes.
  7. Fair enough. The Tigers system is s***, but I agree he does still have a place in our top 10. He isn't a high ceiling guy at all, but at the same time he could be considered a safer bet than some of our other prospects ahead of him in the depth chart. Overall, this was a good deal for both teams as I said before and if Travis can end up sticking at 2B then AA just filled a black hole in our starting lineup with a 4th OF.
  8. I agree platoons could work at this point and be cost effective. That being said, if there is room in the budget signing a decent OF on a short term deal might work as well. Even if Pompey pushes his way into CF, having to get rid of Mayberry or Dirks isnt a big loss either. In either case this recent trade has really set this team in a better overall position to move in a couple different paths.
  9. He isn't nothing, he could be an average 2B at league min, that is something this team could use dearly.
  10. AA should go hard after Headley IMO. Start Lawrie at 2B and Travis in AAA. The team will have good depth with Travis in AAA and Valencia on the bench. The only real issue will still be needing some kind of real depth behind the SS position.
  11. This is a good move for both teams for obvious reasons. We now have a league min guy with some decent potential to at least fill a black hole, plus he has options which is really important considering Gose was out of options. I would still like to see AA go after another infielder at this point and start Travis in AAA to begin the season. Same goes for CF, I'd prefer Pompey to start the season in AAA. We will need the depth and I hope AA isn't banking on two rookies in a supposedly contending season. So far AA has had a good offseason, so maybe he's on to something here.
  12. Lol @ Rasmus getting 3/30.
  13. Has it been officially stated that it's $140M?
  14. Melky should be a DH at this point, he is not a good defender at all. By 36 he will need a wheel chair if he is still in LF.
  15. With this roster construction it does waste 2 spots because AA is too stupid to find a solid RHB that can play in the OF. If he could find an adequate 2B or 3B and dump Francisco who only adds to this problem then it makes sense. But we have a useless backup catcher in Thole, an extreme platoon hitter at 3B in Francisco, And our bench has Mayberry who is a terrible defender. Platoons are ideal when players can field a position, but we have so much junk on this roster.
  16. Not that I'm advocating this move, but VM gives this roster a lot more flexibility not having to platoon him. Keeping Adam Lind meant that we would always have to have a platoon partner for him which eats a roster spot.
  17. I heard about the Sandoval interest a month ago, but I didn't think it was real at the time. Still not sure if it's real interest and by real I mean willing to extend a fair market value offer. That being said I can't see AA letting Melky go and then not signing or trading for an equal or better talent, it would be a PR disaster and likely his final year if so.
  18. This is exactly what I was thinking, already 3 big names circulating around this team. I do think AA will make a big splash (and no I don't mean him jumping into a pool), but this has marketing ploy written all over it IMO. Sign one big name and have a bunch of names rumoured and watch the casuals eat it up and help pre sales.
  19. Did they announce their new GM yet?

Raps are huge and this team is only going to get better over the next few years IMO.
  21. I agree. I doubt AA will keep both, one should get moved for sure, unless he is planning something bigger.
  22. Estrada in that park would be pretty good.
