  1. Non-tender wish list: Medlin Beachy Ogando . . .
  2. Fowler would be perfect for this lineup.
  3. Lol, he is in the final year of his deal and the Astros probably don't want to pay his salary.
  4. Our lineup would be an OBP machine if we got Fowler. Yes please.
  5. WAT? Fowler would be a great addition.
  6. AA burning the phone lines?
  7. Lawrie is an idiot.
  8. He is fine if we get a sure thing in LF and/or 2B. If AA constructs the bench properly, we can take a gamble on Smoak and still have other options available.
  9. And?
  10. Did you say that about Bautista and EE too? Smoak has potential, don't be so obtuse.
  11. I'm open to giving Smoak a chance, especially consider we now have some leeway with our lineup, we can afford to take a gamble on Smoak.
  12. Yeah AA doesn't have to do anything Navarro asks for, he is under contract. Mom sure he will try to accommodate him if a deal that helps this team presents himself, otherwise Navarro can suck it up. He would get plenty of AB's anyways, although I'd prefer a better offensive player for DH.
  13. I expect AA to trade him, but I doubt he will just give him away. If he can't get a fair offer I wouldn't be surprised if he returns. I doubt AA really gives a s*** about what Navarro wants, he will be a FA after next season anyways.
  14. Not really when we have the offensive firepower currently locked up. League average bats and adequate defenders for the remaining vacancies and this team is set on the offensive end. We probably end up with a platoon at one position (LF or 2B) and I'm betting Pompey ends up the opening day CF at this point, so it's not as many holes as it appears. If Navarro isn't traded then he probably shares time at DH as well, but we're better off trading him tbh.
  15. God if we get Markakis, Jamie Campbell will keep saying 'You can't have you Markakis and eat it too".
  16. More prospects will fizzle out than will be success, it's just how it is. If it weren't no one would trade any of their top prospects. It's a gamble teams take and for good reason, but no team should ever bank on any prospect.
  17. The best part is that even if injuries hit the lineup, we can now withstand the loss of one of our big bats. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but it's definitely an added benefit. We have high end depth in the lineup and quality but unspectacular depth in the rotation. We just need to fill out the remaining spots with adequate players, anything above that is just an added benefit at this point IMO.
  18. Injuries can happen to any team anytime, that does not detract from the fact that we have arguably the best trio of hitters in baseball. the rotation is fine, could it be better? Ovcourse, but it's certainly not a priority. As for 2B, if AA can acquire a good piece than by all means, but I could live with a short term option for the time being.
  19. To be honest, if AA fills out LF, 2B, and the pen adequately, I don't think we need a SP upgrade. This lineup as is will rake, imagin if Melky or something similar is put in LF, we won't have any issue scoring runs. Legitimize the pen with a few solid but unspectacular arms and I think we are in great shape. Maybe bring in a short term option for 2B and see what Travis can do later in the season. We already have Cecil, Loup, Sanchez, and Estrada in the pen, all of who were good as relievers last season. Delabar could be a bounce back candidate as well. Two more RP with track records and I'm really comfortable with this team moving forward. Seriously what other lineup can rival Donaldson/Bautista/Edwin?
  20. It's not only about addressing holes, improving the roster in any way possible should be the objective and AA has accomplished that thus far. Sure we have holes, but AA has done a fine job this winter and there is no reason to think he is anywhere near done.
  21. No, no it isn't.
  22. History aside, if it wasn't Beane people would be calling it a slaughtering.
  23. Now that it has sunk in, it still seems like Beane got hosed on this deal. Lawrie is a decent player and we all know Barreto's potential, but Nolin and Graveman are pretty meh. Donaldson is in his prime with 4 years of control and an elite player, seems really odd that the A's wouldn't get back one of our good young arms as well.
