    It's still an 8 year deal. They added 6 years onto the deal after his 31st birthday. I like Pedroia but 8 more years after this season is just asking for trouble. That being said it is a great PR move for them.

    So what? The player should be punished not the team. Team should have the choice if they want to break the contract or not.

    For a little over 2 months of Garza? I wouldn't do that deal.

    I would prefer that teams could simply break a contract if players are caught and players pay a hefty fine in addition to a significant suspension (at least a season). Either make it strict enough that it stops players from doing this or just allow it to continue and look the other way. This s*** is just ruining the game.

    You can't really tank in baseball. None of the players are going to mess up their stat lines to get this team a better pick, there is no incentive for them to do it. The only way it happens is if AA starts trading off our best players and that clearly isn't going to happen.

    I am all for gutting the pen if it means we get some relevant prospects. The priority right now needs to be fixing 2B or 3B, C and adding a legitimate front line SP. We have plenty of options to run a solid pen out there.
