  1. Pretty sure he got the highest signing bonus in the entire 2017-2018 class.
  2. Absolutely whoever they get back need to be a top 100 guys or someone who is just about to break into the top 100. No more McKinneys and Drurys.
  3. This is just cool to see.
  4. Small article Davidi published on BA about Monoah. Alek Manoah put himself on the Blue Jays’ radar last summer, when the 6-foot-6, 260-pound righthander led the Cape Cod League in strikeouts. From that point forward, area scout Coulson Barbiche and regional crosschecker Michael Youngberg kept close tabs on the West Virginia ace, who continually impressed them with a simplified delivery that helped him repeat his mechanics and improve his command. By the time the draft rolled around, the Blue Jays were all in on the 21-year-old from Homestead, Fla., selecting him with the 11th overall pick and signing him for the slot value of $4,547,500. "We really love what Alek brings to the table and his 'now' stuff,” scouting director Steve Sanders said. "But we do see room for him to continue to develop and continue to improve. He’s got a really well-rounded three-pitch mix (fastball, slider, changeup) we think is going to play at the next level.” The potential really showed in 2019, when Manoah pitched to a 2.08 ERA over 108.1 innings, with 144 strikeouts against 27 walks. Those numbers blew away his first two college seasons, when he alternated between starting and relieving. As a big guy with a lot of moving parts, Manoah understands that leveraging his size is no simple task, but he developed his mechanics on his own, finding a "delivery that is molded to me.” "I don’t really have one major league pitcher in common that I can think of who I really follow,” he said. ". . . I learned my slider from a Dellin Betances cutter grip and a Chris Sale slider grip and kind of just molded it into one of my pitches, which really helped me . . . "I get a bunch of different guys who do things I like and study stuff and how it would work with me. I put it all together, try things out. Some things work; some things don’t. It’s a work in progress and it’s been a good work in progress so far to this point, and there’s a lot more work to do to evolve into a big league pitcher.” JAYS CHATTER — Righthander T.J. Zeuch debuted at Triple-A Buffalo after recovering from a lat strain, while fellow righty Jon Harris rejoined Double-A New Hampshire after overcoming shoulder trouble. — Shortstop Jordan Groshans’ breakout at low Class A Lansing was on hold because of a stress reaction in his foot.
  5. I don't really see us trading Smoak, he's not really worth anything. Reed is like the white version of Tellez.
  6. I think you're wrong about that man. Consistently 93-94, unless that TV gun is wrong. I think I saw one 95mph.
  7. He looked good in his previous start too. Looks like he's taken a bit off his fastball so he can command it better and now throwing his slider/curve more.
  8. Was hoping SRF got another inning tonight. Only threw 44 pitches. I hope he is not the one that gets sent down after the game.
  9. Sean Reid Foley has looked fantastic so far tonight. Might actually be a very useful bullpen guy if he can't make it as a starter.
  10. Lol Vlad just poured the sun flower seeds and Smoak punched him in the balls.
  11. Yea he sucks but Teoscar sucks more.
  12. Alford back on the IL. Every time he has a little bit of success he gets hurt and derailed. Pardhino and Maese prompted to Lansing.
  13. Yep time to send Teoscar back down.
  14. Cashman trying to set the market. Atkins would be dumb to trade with him again. Last season everyone was dealt at a position of weakness, we're not in that situation this year. If we can't get a good return on Stroman just hold him and try to extend him, he wants to be here.
  15. Got to commend this front office for actually finding good catching depth. I still remember the days where were looking at Guillermo Quiroz as our future catcher. Seems there's a good catching prospect at every level. Even McGuire didn't look bad last year.
  16. Trade with anyone in the NL better prospects and more teams in contention. Even teams like SDP can look at Stroman cause he's not a rental and wants to sign a long term deal.
  17. How many innings did he make it to this year?
  18. Biggio actually getting f***ed by these umps.
  19. Don't blame Montoyo for this, Atkins is at fault here for not filling this spot.
  20. You're surprised they took the number one prospect in baseball? A guy who has entered every homerun contest he's had an opportunity to?
  21. Yes and no. Most GMs wouldn't answer a question like this. “Really, it’s just been our overall ability to prevent runs and score them."
  22. Probably the best Atkins quote to date.
