  1. Buerhle appeared to have a runner picked off at first. close play but they called him safe. Buerhle was back in the rubber, next batter was in the box and then Gibby called for a challenge. On the review they overturned the call and declared the runner out. But then Maddon complained that the challenge was late. Game was played under protest. MLB might make them re play the game.
  2. It's Gibbons who has to know the rule. He was too late to challenge. They could definitely make them re.play it which would suck enormously. Both because we beat a tough opponent at a key time and because the call was wrong to begin with. damn.
  3. In the new Jays shop I missed what time. Anyone?
  4. Yes. Have to make sure we avoid acquiring Tulowitski or Giancarlo Stanton. Obviously they'd be terrible in the all mighty AL East.
  5. Wow, both knees operated on by age 22 He might never be what he was going to be now
  6. Machado surgery update http://touch.baltimoresun.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-81158053/
  7. Orioles are up against Kyle Hendricks tomorrow He looks maybe pretty legit, eh?
  8. Orioles lost 4-1 to the Cubs already today F'n sweet
  9. You and Moogy make good points - yes, no matter what they might do, you have to make sure there is still a large advantage to winning your division. Back when there was only 1 WC and it was almost always a team from the AL East that was annoying. The Yankees/Rays/Red Sox almost didn't care if they won the division or the wild card. It hardly mattered. Now the teams most CERTAINLY do, as the difference is night and day.
  10. Yep. This ain't football. 1 game doesn't cut it.
  11. The NHL thinks it should make people watch all season because so many teams "have a shot". And maybe this is true for local fans in Philadelphia or Winnipeg, etc. But what actually happens for the millions of VERY casual NHL fans like myself? We pay ZERO attention until the playoffs actually start. The regular season is pretty much meaningless with the exception of serious injuries to star players. (Stamkos/cough)
  12. Yeah the Tigers don't seem to like having too many days off
  13. 3 game WC play in pls Game 1 home to team with the worst record, games 2 and 3 at home of team with better record That first game would still be MASSIVELY important, but the better team still has a decent chance even if they lose it. You can't go 1-1-1 as the travel could be way too crazy. 1 off day between games 1 and 2, then games 2/3 on back to back days. Then 1 day off and then division series starts.
  14. It really does suck that Baltimore ran away with the division though because our Sept games against them could have REALLY been something if they were still in reach.
  15. Yep, it would be exciting and sell tickets, even if chances of making it are slim.
  16. Orioles play early today vs Cubs
  17. Well it probably already did, given how they let Ellsbury walk. His absence REALLY hurt them this year, but the Yankees will have some regretful years on that contract later on. It's tough as a GM when there's always some team willing to give 1-2 years too many to a player you really want.
  18. That's the number I had in mind too Gonna be tough
  19. That Garrett Richards injury is really gonna hurt the Angels. That division race is going to be tight.
  20. Ah, you're right. The BP/Cots list was wrong. I fixed my post. Good thing, Seattle obviously picks that up and keeps him from coming East for at least 1 more year.
  21. OTOH, the 2B free agent market still kinda sucks. Of course, COULD move Reyes or Lawrie to 2B and therefore shop from the 3B or SS list Again, * = 2015 team option Second Basemen Emilio Bonifacio Alexi Casilla Mark Ellis Rafael Furcal Kelly Johnson Nick Punto * Brian Roberts Ramon Santiago Rickie Weeks * Ben Zobrist * Shortstops Mike Aviles * Asdrubal Cabrera Alex Gonzalez J.J. Hardy Jed Lowrie John McDonald Hiroyuki Nakajima * Hanley Ramirez Jimmy Rollins * Third Basemen Wilson Betemit Alberto Callaspo Eric Chavez Jack Hannahan * Chase Headley Casey McGehee Donnie Murphy Nick Punto * Aramis Ramirez * Pablo Sandoval Ty Wigginton
  22. Obvious Yankees target
