  1. Absolutely. Back when they were stockpiling compensation picks they could target higher risk higher reward arms with abandon. the strategy worked well.
  2. No. Promoted to AAA in a "sink or swim" move. He sank.
  3. Jeez I just looked at 2010 first round for the first time in a while. Really not a very illustrious draft class. 3 franchise players at best (so far), a fee decent major leaguers and a whole bunch in the top 20 who have gone nowhere.
  4. #JustAGuy - ECJF, et al
  5. I didn't really follow drafts until a few years ago Obviously this was a terrible pick in retrospect, but it really wasn't a particularly strong draft either. Certainly it was no 2009. Anyway, at the time, were most people down on picking him or not necessarily?
  6. Depends on if they spend it on Leroux or if they spend it on Beeston's cigar collection.
  7. Team Achieved WAR - projected WAR = iWAR (~ intangibles)
  8. Also could have gone with this one as I know you're old enough to know who this is. (Not dissing, I am too LOL) #WatchuTalkinBoutBuerle??? http://33.media.tumblr.com/8539660e1767429a92f30446b4b5dd72/tumblr_mhwmqrp6ue1qzbwkjo1_500.jpg
  9. Usually he looks a bit more babyish in the face tho
  10. And that's my point. If Gibby doesn't plan to use Rogers much we really still have a RH problem in the pen. I'd be cool with sending cash to the Yankees for Leroux.
  11. Also, has Gibby used Rogers yet at all since he was re called??
  12. Canadian right hander on the scrap heap How could AA NOT claim him??
  13. Yankees Designate Chris Leroux For Assignment By*Steve Adams*[July 25, 2014 at 11:27am CDT] The Yankees announced that they’ve selected the contract of the recently acquired*Chris Capuano*and designated right-hander*Chris Leroux*for assignment. Leroux’s most recent callup with the Yankees lasted just a day, and he didn’t appear with the club during last night’s contest. The Canadian righty allowed five runs in two innings with the Bombers earlier this season and has pitched to a 5.08 ERA with a 23-to-10 K/BB ratio in 28 1/3 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. The 30-year-old Leroux has a fair amount of Major League experience (71 2/3 innings), highlighted by 25 innings of 2.88 ERA ball with a 24-to-7 K/BB ratio for the Pirates back in 2011.
  14. I don't this TL was being serious
  15. DIVISION OR BUST wild card blows cap filler
  16. LOL The black Detroit one looks higher quality than the Blue Jays blue one
  17. How old is David Ortiz, Mr Hyperbole?
  18. AA won't even consider extending these two, and that's the right decision even if one or the other becomes expensive in later years. Too much risk. Lawrie OTOH...
  19. Excellent point We have all written Morrow off more or less, but getting him back for even 5-6 weeks down the stretch COULD be very helpful.
