  1. Price pitching in Boston tonight for the first time this season
  2. Nationals would kill for him
  3. No one's paying for them like they used to though... (I'm talking about guys who hit 40 HR's and yet still manage only 1-2 WAR, like Carter. Last year BA .218, OBP .313 and he's a negative defender) Low OBP and poor defense, slow speed, etc... (FWIW Judge has a .453 OBP this year and is providing average defense) Bautista and Edwin WERE way better players than that obviously, but I think the other issue that front offices are wary of is the power decline in the late 30's
  4. Paying someone 20M a year to *not* play really suxxx Though maybe his contract was insured...
  5. Mets cannot afford and: David Wright 2017 Contract Status: Signed thru 2020, 14 yrs/$192M (07-20) 2017 34 New York Mets $20,000,000 2018 35 New York Mets $20,000,000 2019 36 New York Mets $15,000,000 2020 37 New York Mets $12,000,000 (I suppose they could move Manny back to SS) (Also I suppose there's a small but real chance Wright never plays another MLB game, but hopefully he eventually gets back)
  6. Also, most front offices now realize that high strikeout 40HR guys aren't that valuable Davis got a little lucky with that contract and signed at the right time This past off season he wouldn't have gotten anywhere near 7 years 161M from any team Not with Carter and Bautista and Edwin all settling like they did
  7. Is there ANY way they can afford to keep Machado?
  8. 2017 Contract Status: Signed thru 2022, 7 yrs/$161M LOL
  9. 0.7 WAR so far this year His absence doesnt move the needle much unless his replacement is AWFULLY bad Maybe psychologically though. Especially when they're struggling so badly already.
  10. Pineda and Sabbathia both having awfully good years. May or may not keep it up. But I still think the Yankees are the best team in the division. And they are the team most likely to add a SP at the deadline. Cashman is shrewd AF. We need our rotation at full strength to have a chance to compete IYAM. Fingers crossed that Happ and Sanchez are OK.
  11. I'm less convinced that the division is up for grabs than I am that both WC spots will come from this division. Yankees will be hard to catch I think.
  12. Yankees have owned them
  13. If we beat Tampa tonight every AL East team is at .500 or better (Edit: Orioles at .500 now so they could lose and mess that up which would be fine LOL)
  14. Yankees have won 6 in a row Orioles have lost 5 in a row What a difference one week can make. Yikes.
  15. Atkins/Shapiro: Just pick us the next Francisco Lindor and Corey Kluber please Thank you! The BJMB XO
  16. In today's NFL it's hard to win without a really good QB
  17. "Scooter" Gennett looks EXACTLY how I expected him to look LOL
  18. 2 (like Spanky said) We pick 22nd (our regular first round pick) and also 28th (the compensation pick for losing Edwin)
  19. That's just it 26-27 teams started the NBA season knowing full well they had essentially no chance of making the NBA finals let alone winning it. It's a very unbalanced league. And as epic as the finals have been the last few years it does suck for fans of those other teams.
  20. Neither is Gordon Beckham (also a 2008 first round pick)
  21. I can't even conceive that the Cubs are a .500 team They have too much talent to stay that way
  22. Miracle would have to involve LeBron James and Steph Curry breaking their legs waterskiing or base jumping together or something.
  23. That's not the fault of the playoffs structure. Just a testament on how certain teams can become unstoppable superpowers with 1-2 huge signings or draft picks. And that the players themselves have way more control over where they play than n any other league.
  24. Better than the NFL where a division winner can have a losing record and make the playoffs or the NHL where tons of mediocre teams sneak in. The NBA is self policing. s***** teams get in but the superpowers quickly take care of buainess. The number 7 and 8 seeds in each division stand no chance and get squashed immediately.
