    Yeah Their financial status and farm system, and the Sale trade (also facilitated by their farm system) has allowed them to afford such mistakes and get away with it

    Agreed. He played in an era where RBIs were considered a measure of performabce by many. However, he had Devon White, Roberto Alomar, Paul Molitor and for a bit Ricky Henderrson hitting in front of him. He obviously had far more than a fair share of opportunities to drive in runs. Almost everyone recognizes that now. (with the possible exceptions of Cito Gaston and Pat Tabler who probably still think he was just a "clutch RBI guy")
