  1. Padres worked out a deal with him 11.5M over 2 years with most of it paid in 2022
  2. Never been a fan of Odorizzi
  3. That seems like a reasonable gamble for the Braves Their lack of SP depth really hurt them this year
  4. Can he put together a full effective healthy season?
  5. BTS crushin' But fair enough. He's like the Chris Hemsworth of baseball
  6. Or rhe Papa John
  7. Yes. Indiana Pacers have a female Assistant GM, I think that was previously the closest anyone got.
  8. I dunno. They set a limit on their offer and stuck to it. (They offered him 200M IIRC and he turned it down) A bit of luck maybe in addition to shrewd. On a side note, they got more WAR from their Michael Wacha comp pick for letting Pujols go than Pujols has put up since.
  9. Also 125M for Josh Hamilton Yeah rhe track record hasn't been great
  10. Teams are obviously still willing to give out long term deals to guys aged 27/28 or so, but once they reach 30+ it just doesn't seem to even be considered anymore. Sranton/Machado/Harper will have some bad years paid at high $, but not likely nearly as many as Pujols did.
  11. Beating a dead horse here but... The Angels have paid Albert Pujols 210 MILLION DOLLARS to put up a grand total of 6.4 WAR over 9 seasons. He hasn't posted a positive WAR since 2016 and he's getting paid another 30M next year Cardinals were sooooo smart to let him walk and I think every team has learned from this
  12. Maybe he voted in Broward County, Florida...
  13. Very few players aged 30+ have won MVPs since 2000. This year they're both 30+
  14. Think he'll finally be the one to eat rhe money and cut Pujols?
  15. At least make the playoffs occasionally
  16. Bieber was unanimous 30/30 first place votes Bauer had 27/30 (Ryu finished 3rd place even though one Toronto writer placed him 5th and one didn't vote for him at all)
  17. AL Cy Young Bieber NL Cy Young Bauer
  18. Makes no sense Unlike the Mets
  19. A serious IL stint for Ryu and it sure doesn't look pretty
  20. True I didn't even mind the signing at the time but wow he wasn't worth a damn
  21. I like how Shapiro and Atkins try to fill obvious needs early and aggressively in the off season. They won't always get the best deal but they won't be left empty handed either AA would usually wait so long that there was hardly anyone left to sign You don't want to waste money and you can't have a bunch of bad contracts but this is a good time tk be aggressive. Money available to spend. Two bad teams in the division. Expanded playoffs. Talented young core. I like it
  22. 8m = Usual fair market price for Ray - revenue uncertainty/Covid discount + cost of signing very early in the off season to a team that may not have been your first choice
  23. I really wanted him back for a full season Very happy with this
  24. Worst kept secret in baseball
