  2. MLB.com 24 notable possible non tender candidates before tonight's deadline https://www.mlb.com/news/non-tender-candidates-for-every-team
  3. Excellent post. You're right. Once guys get to arb 3 especially they're at high risk of being non tendered if they haven't proven to be good everyday major league players. And even if they are the projected salary is often too high to be palatable. Teams know they can sign vets for 1 year deals on the cheap to fill in their bench and bullpen. They now seem to mostly prefer this rather than over pay a guy in his arb 3 year to stay on for one more year. It's also another reason that smart low budget teams like the Ray's usually trade their good players away during their arb 2 year. Bigger return on the trade and more salary savings.
  4. The comments aren't very sympathetic. Lmao
  5. Guarantee he has contacted BVW about trading for Syndergaard too. Which the Mets say they won't anyway.
  6. I think they REALLY want to sign Stras or Cole and yet still manage to stay under the luxury tax. They've cut Ellsbury, Edwin and Gregorious already to save $$. (Though I can still see Gregorious coming back possibly)
  7. Wow I can see why they went this route with ARod. He was a cheater and no one cared that they were trying to not pay him. But Ellsbury just got hurt. A lot.
  8. Yankees release Jacoby Ellsbury. Still owe him 2 years salary worth 26M. Greg Bird DFA
  9. I think he gets a massive suspension And I think Luhnow gets fired or resigns. So much bad PR the last two years he won't survive this. No matter how successful the team has been.

  11. Agreed. He didn't say anything wrong here and is just doing what GM's do all the time. The PA is upset that teams are smarter and are less likely to hand out bad contracts. They're also upset that teams take advantage of rules that they've agreed to. They may specifically hold a grudge against AA even more than many teams because of shrewd but legal moves that may have irked them. 1. Holding Acuna Jr back in his rookie season to avoid counting a service year 2. Waiting out the free agent draft pick compensation window to negotiate a contract with Dallas Keuchel 3. Signing Ozzie Albies to an extremely team friendly contract during his league minimum seasons They hate all this stuff even though it's all perfectly within a team's rights
  12. MLBPA going to investigate AA after comments he made about free agency https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/mlbpa-anthopoulos-comments-question-integrity-free-agency/sn-amp/
  13. Our last ace

  19. Hot damn How many players get to become free agents a few days after they win World Series MVP?
  20. At least Darvish is smartly NOT opting out Strasburg is the only pitcher who maybe should
  21. Moustakas and Grandal have declined their options and are now free agents
  22. MLBTR: Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman is pursuing an extension but otherwise plans to utilize the opt-out clause in his five-year contract, per MLB Network’s Jon Heyman Chapman, 32 in February, has two years and $30MM remaining on the five-year, $86MM pact he inked prior to the 2017 season. In the event that an extension isn’t reached, the Yankees will surely issue him a $17.8MM qualifying offer, which he’ll reject in order to head into free agency.
  23. How many more years does Brodie VW get if they miss the playoffs again next year? That's a tough divison with only one bad team and the Mets have huge holes. They hired him because he was the only candidate who wanted to go for it rather than rebuild.
