  1. The Cardinals have struck a deal with Korean pitcher Kwang-hyun Kim, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  2. Also Ryu has no draft pick compensation cause they qualified him last year Problem is the Angels, White Sox and Twins are also in severe need of SP. Someone will end up with nothing.
  3. We can so nicely afford to front load a sizeable contract now with declining salaries planned for when we finally have to start paying our in house developped guys. Payroll is so low right now.
  4. The stadium sucks. But the team is good. In a state with great weather. You could do worse.
  5. Same Jays had to overpay to get someone to sign
  6. Lindor next or do they try one more season with him? Personally I think now or the trade deadline is the time to trade him if they can't agree to an extension. And I don't know if they can even realistically afford to keep him at market value.
  7. Rosenthal credibility tweet No details on the return for Cleveland yet...
  8. Fixed that for you
  9. And Boras apparently takes 5% no matter how large or small the contract. So this off season alone will get him approx $50M paid at various rates spread over the next 4-9 seasons
  10. I'm OK with it. Don't love it don't hate it. Jays can't make people take their money, and there's probably a premium required to come here to pitch at the moment vs signing with many other more competitive teams. Lindbolm and Pineda prob wouldn't have signed here for the same $$ they got elsewhere.
  11. I say AA talks him into 3 years 75M plus an option with a 5M buyout. Edit: Which means it prob amounts to exactly the same thing.
  12. Was sure he'd stay with the Yankees. That's a little more money than I thought he'd get.
  13. http://cdn.strategyonline.ca/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Powerade_Pillar0282-1.jpg
  14. Career wRC+ 67 and it just keeps dropping. It was 50 in 2019. Yuck yuck yuck.
  15. I was kidding a bit at the underwhelming choices But yes. Pearson.
  16. So do I replace my Stroman jersey with a Roark or Anderson....
  17. Had to remind myself of his salary status 7 yrs/$260M And he's actually worth every penny
  18. Also I guess the results were made public this morning: ESPN: Uptick in home runs attributed to seam heights and batting techniques, not juiced balls https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28273986/uptick-home-runs-attributed-seam-heights-batting-techniques-not-juiced-balls
  19. It's at the GM meetings in San Diego. I'm sure they'll cover it on MLB TV/radio.
  20. Rawlings and scientists having a press conference this afternoon to discuss their findings from their analysis with respect to the ball and home runs in 2019
  21. Yeah. Maybe it's just a reflection of more of the same that we've seen with position players. Elite guys like Machado and Trout get huge deals and the second and third tier guys get a fraction and much shorter deals. Elite SPs rarely become free agents anymore. Let alone two in one off season like this one.
  22. This is the perfect time to front load a contact if you're Shapiro/Atkins
  23. Also it's a bit funny how many teams stopped paying for starting pitching for a few years and tried to bullpen their way through the playoffs with a mediocre starting rotation. The last couple of years that strategy has failed miserably and now teams are suddenly paying huge $ for starters again. This post season couldn't have been better to highlight the value of having 2 or 3 really good front end starters.
  24. ARod - PEDs Ellsbury - Medical treatments at outside facilities Cole - Too many speeding tickets
