  1. Yes. He's better than a platoon player. The s***** thing is we probably get the max wins in 2021 with: 1. A new 3rd baseman (either a new aquistion there or bringing in a new middle IF and moving Biggio over) 2. Tellez at mostly 1B/some DH 3. Vlad mostly at DH/some 1B But they clearly don't want to do that any time soon and I hate the thought of having to keep Vlad off the field at his young age. But it's a HUGE problem if Vlad can't learn to play 3rd or 1st adequately.
  2. Then Tellez plays mostly 1B and some DH?
  3. It's a viable option though not my preference. If they can't get Kim or Lindor etc then signing a stop gap for 2B or 3B like Didi or Turner is definitely an option.
  4. I can't see them obtaining THREE starting pitchers
  5. This has been such a stupid year in so many ways and this season was such a short weird one that it somehow barely registered with me that all of: Justin Verlander Chris Sale Luis Severino Noah Syndergaard All had Tommy John surgery this year. That's really pretty insane
  6. I go there for the stats Not the "writing"
  7. Also, apparently, a Stanford economics major
  8. Yeah he didn't retire from playing very long ago. He's only 39. Has been in the Phillies FO for 3 years I guess. Sounds like a smart guy. Edit: His last season playing was 2015
  9. Phillies To Name Sam Fuld As General Manager
  10. Mets should really get an extension done with Syndergaard I can't believe he's a free agent next year.
  11. The Mets and right-hander Noah Syndergaard have agreed to a contract for the 2021 season and will avoid going to salary arbitration, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports. Syndergaard will earn $9.7MM, which was also what he earned in 2020 when missing the entire season due to Tommy John surgery.
  12. Replace Springer with Lindor and I agree. I think the Mets outbid the Jays for Springer and I think the Angels reach and get Bauer. It just seems like Shapiro amd Atkins won't stop until they get a deal made for Lindor.
  13. I've said this before. His skill set should age fairly well.
  14. Let's go White Sox!!!
  15. Dec. 21: A Maricopa County judge has accepted Tony La Russa’s guilty plea for reckless driving, per Jon Seidel of the Chicago Sun-Times. He’s been sentenced to a day of jail time, which has been commuted to home detention, and 20 hours of community service. He’ll be fined $1,383 as well. La Russa also recently went through alcohol counseling, according to his attorney.
  16. At this point we almost need a separate Blue Jays 1993 general discussion thread LOL
  17. Is Cashman just pretending they're poor all of a sudden to help negotiations or do the Yankees really want to cut payroll?? Every interview with him this off season he sounds like he's managing the Pirates or something I don't think I've ever seen the Yankees lose a player to free agency that they really wanted to keep. They seem willing to let Tanaka walk but they clearly want to keep Lemahieu.
  18. Theyre aiming high, for sure. If we could get either Springer or LeMahieu I'd be ecstatic
  19. F'n Mets. New rich owner plus a 20 million dollar gift from Robinson Cano...
  20. Plus there were several other AL stadiums with artificial turf then. So it wasn't just at home for him either.
  21. Joey Gallo anyone?
  22. Nice... Toronto Blue Jays (@bluejays) • Instagram photos and videos WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 19K likes, 138 comments - bluejays on December 19, 2020: "Who wants to see ANOTHER Vladdy rocket? 🤚 #PLAKATA 💥".
  23. Because Alomar is a victim of oddly false negative defensive value from a time it wasn't tracked very well
  24. Yeah. He played a position and at a time where massive HR totals were expected from first basemen. Guys like Palmeiro, McGuire and Bagwell were all overshadowing him with (? PED enhanced) HR numbers while Oleriud was just quietly a very good hitter.
