  1. In 2018 he would have been the best player on the Jays by a sizable margin
  2. Yeah he was on MLB Network today. He said that half a dozen other teams told him they wanted to sign him. But several wouldn't promise full time at bats. And others (Including Boston he said) were making him wait for an actual contract offer while they worked on other things. Jays offered full playing time and a contract on the table and he grabbed it because he's seen guys "get screwed" the last few years while waiting too long. Also he says he didn't care if he played 1B or 3B as long as he got full time at bats.
  3. Only played 1/3 of his games at Coors Field and had stupid good numbers severywhere he played plus great defence. He needs to get in.
  4. I think they were only interested in Price if they couldn't sign a high level starter via free agency. I don't see them making that trade now. If they're trading for anyone I would prefer Clevinger or a quality CF
  5. That Marlins outfield was so good before they tore it down. Yellich has maintained the best output since then. Stanton hurt too much. Ozuna has been up and down.
  6. I am REALLY looking forward to cheering for this guy
  7. It was close I remember feeling equally worried about losing eirher And yeah they're lucky they picked the right pitcher because d'Arnaud never became what they wanted
  8. https://fortune.com/2018/07/06/mike-pompeo-gifts-kim-jong-un-trump-signed-cd-rocket-man-south-korean-paper/amp/
  9. IIRC didn't he offer the Mets the choice of Syndrrgaard or Aaron Sanchez when he traded for RA Dickey? How often do GMs offer a choice of players in trade? I'm sure it happens sometimes but he seemed to value all three of Nicolino Sanchez and Syndergaard pretty much the same or just wanted to put the weight of picking on other teams quite often that off season. Like you say he may have been willing to trade any of them in any number of potential deals that off season.
  10. Yeah. The AA haters will be all over this. And rightfully so. Just wow if this is all true and it probably is.
  11. Wow that is a must hear interview I've never heard such candor from a sport executive AA would have included Syndergaard if the Marlins had picked him over Nicolino Loria knew the deal would be awful PR but agreed to it anyway Bud Selig spoke with Rogers chairman at length to make they sure they understood the implications. Both teams knew Josh Johnson was busted but when the Marlins found out Alvarez had undiagnosed elbow problems they used the leverage to keep the trade in place anyway
  12. Carlos Beltran has multiple incentive-based player contracts to deal with all of a sudden. That can't be pleasant, especially for a first year manager.
  13. What a complicated F'n deal: The Excel Sports client will reportedly be guaranteed $10.5MM and secure a player option for the 2021 season in addition to a vesting player option for the 2022 campaign. The contract is said to promise Betances a $7.5MM salary in 2020, and his player option is valued at $6MM with a $3MM buyout. However, he’ll have the opportunity to boost the value of that option and the potential 2022 option as well. Specifically, the value of the 2020 option will escalate by $800K when Betances pitches in his 40th game in 2020. It’ll increase by an additional $1MM upon reaching each of 50, 60 and 70 games. As for the second player option, it would vest if Betances exercises the first player option and then appears in 50 games in 2021 — but only at a $1MM base. If Betances appears in 60 games, that base would jump to $2MM (with a $1MM buyout). It’d further increase to $3MM ($1MM buyout) by appearing in 70 games in 2021. Sam Haggardy DFA
  14. And will drop by 14M automatically when Tulo is off the books in 2021
  15. Rich Hill and his wife arrested for causing a disturbance at an NFL game https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/mlb-pitcher-rich-hill-wife-arrested-patriots-game/sn-amp/
  16. I don't see this as very appealing to the Dodgers
  17. Chance Adams to the Royals after he was DFA to make room for Cole For cash maybe? He might be a good reclamation project
  18. Also 26 man rosters this year I'd prefer another position player to another bullpen arm but what will Montoyo want?
  19. How much are we willing to spend for a RH platoon 1B vs would the same money be better spent elsewhere The other unanswerable question is will Shaw be healthy this year and will he hit to his previous career level. Insurance might not be a bad idea.
  20. Shaw career splits: Vs LHP 225/283/396 wOBA 292 wRC+ 78 Vs RHP 249/341/469 wOBA 343 wRC+ 111 How badly do we need to platoon him?
  21. I mean over the last few years. Machado, Britton, etc
  22. Orioles are the kings of this
  23. Agreed. Makes sense to keep Giles now. If hes good but the team is stumbling in 3rd or 4th place in July you can trade him then
  24. Payroll sitting at approx 122M now for 2020 after signing Shaw and Ryu according to MLBTR/Roster Resource Does rhat sound right?
  25. That story seems completely fake
