    Yeah, Machado's contract is horribly back loaded too The next few years are actually very reasonable but then he gets 35M a year startling in 2027 until he's 40 years old.     Omfg my nightmare is happening Hate this signing so much 1. He's not very good 2. He costs way more than Espinal or Biggio 3. Means less money and fewer positions for other upgrades

    The fact that the alternatives are so ugly is the reason someone probably DOES give him a longer/better deal than we all want the Jays to give him

    Yeah. Tampa just might have to eat that contract they signed him to. Or try to trade him at a massive discount relative to his baseball value. One of the few regretful contracts they've ever given out of that's what happens

    Bellinger projects like this because his floor is low and his ceiling is high He's a high stakes gamble and everyone knows it No one will be shocked if he misses 2 months and slumps to a 1.5 WAR season and no one will be shocked if he plays good defsnee and hits well for 150 games at is worth 5 WAR and gets ASG/MVP/SS votes.
