    Good question Yes I was, and such variability would be possible, but in the case of the Jays it doesn't seem to matter.     Of course There is ZERO point in acquiring someone who will only play second half 2013 with us. Anyone acquired needs to fill a need for this season and next at a bare minimum, and preferably longer.

    Given: 1. An excess of high quality bullpen arms in the system 2. Major holes elsewhere (2B, C, SP) 3. Teams in contention with money and crappy bullpens (Red Sox, Tigers) It would be insane not to make a move this month

    Some relative numbers from 2012 to 2013: Jays are up 4,790 per game compared to last year (an 18% increase) Of course, it's easier to go up when you had a few years of dismal attendance, but still nice to see Miami is down the most (not surprising), but Phillies are way down too. Only the Jays, Orioles and Nationals are up a significant amount compared to last year What's the Hell is wrong with Pittburgh fans?!?!?! They're not up at all compared to 2012.     Maybe My gut feeling was that it was something even bigger (Felix Hernandez) - remember the guy who was badgering Ken Rosenthal on Twitter saying he knew The Jays were having meetings with the Mariners about possibly trading for him? I was never 100% convinced that was actually BS.

    We know little We know that last season, long before the Marlins trade, AA was "really close" to a deal that would have had "major payroll implications" and Beeston/Rogers were on board P.S. Who did we think that deal was for anyway?

    Attendance, on average, is down across major league baseball. But we are one of a few teams seeing continual increases. The most recent data I can find online shows an average of 31,417 fans per game at Rogers Centre, and a total of 1,445,173 fans so far this season.     There was also the repeated statement that attendance had to go up in order to be able to spend more on payroll. And it (attendance) has been, and it (payroll) has.

    Exactly right. And I love a good value acquisition at any time. Rasmus, Delabar, Escobar, etc all good trades any time you do them. He's always looking for similar deals and I'm sure he is right now as well.

    Yep. Crazy to have all that even with Wagner and Perez in the bigs and Santos on the DL Crazy depth. (sadly, the only area we have depth...)

    I'd use Delabar or Cecil on any given night depending on the matchups and level of rest When Santos is back he's your 8th inning guy at first but could win back the closer role if he's lights out

    Janssen to the Tigers. Dombrowski and Leland want. Delabar/Cecil closers by committee.

    Yep. Guys like Travis D'Arnaud and Will Myers don't grow on trees. Do they all make it big? No. But they can change a franchise for cheap $ when they do.
