  1. It's team friendly yes. But he's been year to year for quite a while now and figures to get no more than 5M in arbitration and have to prove himself again. I'm not sure he turns that down. And I'd go an extra 1-2M per year or add a 5th if needed to seal the deal.
  2. Heck yes keep Rasmus. Extend now 4 years 28M. Do it.
  3. DON"T GIVE ROBINSON CANO 10 YEARS Just don't
  4. Fun for us. Annoying for Anthopoulos and Duquette in these cases I'm sure.
  5. Gammons on absurd trade rumours: - One of the increasing frustrations for general managers is trade rumors that take on lives of their own, even if they are without substance. If it gets printed, it gets on mlbtraderumors.com—which I like—and becomes non-fiction. Blue Jays officials talking to another club ridiculed the notion that they would trade Jose Bautista for Domonic Brown; the Jays don’t even like Brown. The Orioles were angered that it was reported they were considering trading J.J. Hardy to St. Louis; in fact, the Cards asked if Hardy were available, but were told no. “That’s different from the discussion of whether or not a Ranger-Dodger swap of Ian Kinsler for Andre Ethier makes sense,” said one club official at the meetings. “That makes some sense, as Kinsler would replace Michael Young with his ability to play so many positions, and the Rangers could use Ethier.”
  6. Exactly AA ninja snatch while other teams fight over McCann
  7. Dat chin!!! http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/ac1394dbdcca6a36cbf486633b129cd813095ac3/r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/USATODAY/test/2013/07/29/1375149669000-colon-1307292202_4_3.jpg
  8. Colon has extra chins Sign him to max it out
  9. Dan Johnson = new David Cooper?
  10. I blame your avatar for like 80% of the distate for him on this board!
  11. Yes
  12. Would have preferred Don Johnson
  13. Exactly. All he has to do is better than Happ for 5M and I'd take him.
  14. No action on Josh Johnson yet? Anyone think we still have a shot and signing him on a cheap-ish 1 year deal?
  15. Yes. This is exactly the type of guy AA should be signing this off season. Colon, Hudson, Kuroda, etc. Stabilize the rotation on a short term deal for an older guy while we see what becomes of Stroman/Sanchez/Hutch/Drabek. Did they all get qualifying offers? If so, the protected first round pick plays nicely here. Other teams interested might lose their first rounder and therefore balk at signing them.
  16. Yep. No team can afford to pay their whole starting rotation 10-20M per guy. (s***, we even have a AAA starter making 7.5M) A league minimum guy or two can help enormously wityh overall team finances. Just ask Tampa Bay.
  17. Yeah, I'd trade probably any other prospect for him
  18. Yep If you can nab this guy for a reasonable cost and sooner rather than later, do it
  19. Last thing we need, if true, is more guys like that
  20. But .198/.306/.261 Ick. That's Thole caliber BA and SLG. Only his walk ability seems acceptable. Is his defense so good it makes up for it? Maybe, don't know enough about him. Edit: Scratch that. Looking at his whole career in BR it's clear that 2013 was a MAJOR outlier offensively. Great bounce back candidate. Career .262 .359.343 .703 Very nice for a catcher who provides plus defense
  21. Reds Likely To Move Ryan Hanigan By Steve Adams [November 15 at 7:42am CST] NOV. 15: Hanigan "is going to be traded," tweets Olney. Multiple teams are interested in Hanigan, and the Reds feel they can get a good prospect in exchange, Olney adds. NOV. 8: The Reds have agreed to a two-year deal with free agent Brayan Pena, giving them three catchers on their 40-man roster: Pena, Devin Mesoraco and Ryan Hanigan. It appears that Hanigan is the odd man out, as Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears from a source that Hanigan is likely to be moved (Twitter link). ESPN's Buster Olney tweets that the Rays and Yankees, two teams with question marks at catcher this offseason, have liked Hanigan in the past. Hanigan, 33, struggled through the worst season of his career in 2013, batting just .198/.306/.261 and tying a career-low with two home runs. MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz projects Hanigan to earn $2.3MM through arbitration this offseason, which should be a cheap enough sum for interested parties to take on. The main culprit in Hanigan's poor season appears to have been a .216 batting average on balls in play. That number figures to trend back toward his career mark of .283, especially when considering that Hanigan's batted-ball profile didn't radically change in 2013. In fact, Hanigan's 21.5 percent line-drive rate was actually a slight increase over his 2012 mark (21.2 percent) and is right in line with his career mark (21.9 percent). Hanigan has long been known as a patient hitter that is tough to strike out, as evidenced by a career 12 percent walk rate and 10.1 percent strikeout rate. Detractors may point to the lofty walk rate as a product of him batting eighth in an NL lineup so often (one spot in front of the pitcher), but Hanigan's career walk rate in more than 300 plate appearances out of the seventh slot in the order is higher than his walk rate in 1,110+ PAs in the eighth slot. Hanigan also carries a reputation as a solid defensive backstop, having led the league in caught-stealing percentage in 2013 (45 percent) and 2012 (48 percent). His 40 percent career mark is about 12 percentage points higher than the league average, which tends to be around 28 percent. He's also known as one of the best in the business in terms of pitch-framing -- an art he discussed at length with Ben Lindbergh for a Grantland piece back in May.
  22. Pretty much. Would cost 1/4 of the team.
  23. That's the right attitude Would I trade one of them in a big package for Felix Hernandez? Of course I would For Ryan Hanigan? No F'n way
  24. I know what you mean I guess I'm thinking, I would much prefer to see our needs addressed through free agency and a smaller trade while keeping these 2 young promising arms SP - FA C- FA 2B - Trade Probably unrealistic though
