  1. I waffled on Texas and Seattle there, depends on rest of off season and some luck, and if Fielder stays away from the Texas BBQ http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-rangers&tid=26975
  2. It's early (stupid early) but I predict: 1. Oakland 2. Seattle 3. Texas 4. LAA 5. Houston That is not a bad division, and Houston will atually be decent in a couple of years
  3. That's what you call a DOUBLE DOWN! - http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Li0Ssy1CODY/TOAZJXTk2mI/AAAAAAAAD6s/4rta6-sAk-g/s1600/KFC+Double+Down+Poster.jpg
  4. Hahaha, thanks
  5. Will I be unpopular if I say I don't like it?
  6. Mariners To Sign Robinson Cano By Steve Adams [December 6, 2013 at 12:34pm CST] 12:34pm: For what it's worth, the Mariners have released the following statement: “We are not able to confirm any news regarding Robinson Cano at this time. If and when an agreement is completed and finalized, we will announce.”
  7. These multiple threads with one discussing the possible deal then one announcing the real deal are getting annoying Should I clean up or just leave it??
  8. Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 4m The #Yankees were willing to go to $175 million over 7 years, but last official offer was $160 million. Cano gets cool $80 million more
  9. Me too I honestly think by June we'll have too many starters and have to trade one (fingers crossed, knocking on wood, and turning in a prayer circle as I say that)
  10. That depth is EXCELLENT We need to add one top of the rotation caliber guy
  11. Oh, no wait... Brandon Morrow says he's NOT injury prone So nevermind... my bad http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/health-criticism-frustrating-jays-morrow/
  12. So we may as well scratch "Morrow" from the list then? They probably aren't in the rotation at the same time
  13. There is so much wrong with this. How does a gut with such crap performance get so much playing time... In 1,392 major league plate appearances, Arencibia has compiled a .258 on-base-percentage. Over the last 60 years, it is tied for the 10th lowest among 1,941 non-pitchers to have at least 1,250 plate appearances in a career. He also has durability, which Rangers general manager Jon Daniels stressed was important in a recent conversation about the backup catcher situation. He said he wanted somebody who could step in and handle the load of playing every day in the event that Geovany Soto gets hurt. Arencibia has averaged 108 starts behind the plate over the last three seasons. He ranks eighth in the majors in starts in that time period.
  14. Possibly as little as 1M guaranteed!!! http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/2013/12/source-texas-rangers-reach-agreement-with-catcher-j-p-arencibia.html/
  15. Done dea: Rangers To Sign J.P. Arencibia By Steve Adams [December 6 at 11:26am CST] The Rangers have reached an agreement with free agent catcher J.P. Arencibia, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News (Sulia link). Reports last night indicated that the Rangers were nearing a deal with the CAA Sports client. Arencibia will presumably back up Geovany Soto in Texas. Arencibia hit just .194/.227/.365 in 2013 and is unlikely to ever hit for much of an average, but with his power, he can be effective if he bats above .215 or so, as he did in 2011 and 2012. He has 62 home runs in the past three seasons, and hitting in Arlington should help him maintain that level of power. Though he has his warts, Arencibia was one of the game's top pitch-framing catchers in 2013 -- an undervalued element of catchers' skill sets.
  16. Fantastic comments. He is vry smrt.
  17. Yep Good players going from good teams to bad teams is awesome for us #LevelThePlayingField
  18. Tell me JP gets better on a new team and I'll remind you that Edwin and Bautista got better on this one, and that Snider has continued to stink in Pittsburgh. I don't buy the theory that there's a serious systemic flaw in our system. Room for improvement, yes, but manageable.
  19. Also to be fair, JP and Ichiro have very different makeups. One is built to be a slugger, the other is built to be a contact hitter.
  20. It's the Zaun theory and Zaun somewhat amusingly uses it both ways: He has said both: 1. Anyone can hit 20 HR if they awing for the fences all the time, JPA needs to be more selective and disciplined to help his team more. 2. Ichiro Suziki sacrificed extra base hits and home runs with his slap technique to wimpishly inflate his BA and hit total. He should have hit for higher slugging to help his team more.
