    The Blue Jays are taking the same approach at second base, and for now appear content to take Ryan Goins and his plus-defence in some sort of job-share arrangement with Maicer Izturis. They talked to the Rangers about Ian Kinsler before Texas shifted gears and traded him to the Detroit Tigers for Prince Fielder, and kept tabs on Omar Infante and Mark Ellis, both of whom would likely have needed a premium on what they signed for to head north.

    That's his usual MO, yes Yet he has traded for players with contracts that he wouldn't have handed out 2 years ago And the only way to REALLY make this team better in 2014 may just be to overpay for a free agent at this point. He seemed to even concede this in interviews last year but has not done it.

    I might actually be OK with him as a backup OF and part time DH vs RHP But I'd be MORE ok with that if we'd done something about 2B

    Moises Sierra continues to hit well in the Dominican, with a .331/.401/.441 line in 136 at bats but the bad news is that Sierra continues to lack power, hitting only one extra-base hit, a double, in the last 10 games and nothing since Dec. 6. He did go three for five yesterday with an RBI. Something that is nice to see from Sierra is the fact that he has a solid walk to strikeout ratio with 14 walks and 26 Ks.

    So, Roy F'n Halladay got us: A pitcher who has has TWO Tommy John surgeries and leads the AL in walks even when he's healthy Half of 3 years of RA Dickey And a pinch runner That about right??? (Yes, hyperbole. I still think Drabek and Gose might be useful major leaguers. But right now it doesn't look good on the surface)
