  1. Since when?
  2. This is a very disturbing thread.
  3. Just make the restaurant or whatever it is now a wall and push the fence back to the back of the bullpens. Blow the heating / ac in towards home plate and enjoy our spectacular defense.
  4. Price and potential. His upside is much, much higher than other available options, and we (may) have the flexibility to take on a contract as well, especially in an area of need. If teams really are that cash strapped, it would make a ton of sense.
  5. This is interesting. It makes me wonder if the signing of IKF might have more to do with this than actually covering for 3rd. Bo and Vladdy would certainly have a ton of trade value, and Vladdy's production could probably be replaced via free agency (I'm assuming they're the ones being discussed, but who knows).
  6. I wonder what Kim would cost? He's almost certainly opting out after the season.
  7. The Braves outrighted Fletcher from the 40 man and there were no takers. Forrest Wall is pre-arbitration and is probably basically Cam Eden. I'm not sure that's a ringing endorsement for the idea of paying IKF that kind of money. Hell, I'd (almost) rather stick Vladdy back at 3rd and sign a big bat at 1st before doing this.
  8. The only way I'm not completely outraged with this is if IKF is purely a late inning defensive replacement and injury insurance. I really hate this signing.
  9. Whether I like this move or not depends on what else we do. We need 2 big bats. If KK is taking up one of them, we have a problem. If not, this is a good move at a good price imo. I'd also expect him to be closer to 2 WAR.
  10. Isn't Spanky still hard coded into the site?
  11. Dunno, seems like it caused Springer, Vladdy, and Varsho to lose their mojo.
  12. Bellinger for the outfield. Kyle Lewis could make a potentially interesting 4th outfielder to take a shot on.
  13. I think they mean the warmup pitches on the mound, not in the bullpen.
  14. I'm fine with $25M / year for Bellinger, up to 8 years (although less would be better).
  15. What about Lantigua for the 4th outfielder? He has a good eye and doesn't strike out much, can steal some bases, and last year played every position except 1st and C.
  16. Yeah, if we wait for ideal we'll never be able to field the team we need right now with our window. Sign him and sacrifice an analytics guy to appease the baseball gods.
  17. I would expect he and Biggio will split time at 2nd with the odd appearance in the outfield and 3rd. I guess it's possible Whit is resigned, but I kind of doubt it. Most of the playing time at 3rd will likely be addressed with another option (who knows what at this point, but neither he nor Biggio are likely someone you want to put at 3rd full time).
  18. I don't think he's anywhere close to being a lock at starter. I do think there's a strong chance that he gets in 4 or 5 games a week in multiple positions though.
  19. Some combination of all of the above seems reasonable. I think you hope one of Barger or Orelvis grabs hold of the position in the spring, but we do have the bodies if they don't. The way I look at it is some combo of those guys probably match or exceed the other available options with the exception of Chapman. If we really want to sign a 3rd baseman in FA, I'd rather do it next year when there's better options available. I'd personally rather overpay for Bellinger than overpay for Chapman. Hell, get Bellinger AND Yelich.
  20. IMO our best option is to fill it internally. Spend or trade in other areas where we do have more choice.
  21. There's no real reason for us to. Very risky signing at those prices when there's other high end options available with MLB track records.
  22. Our management only believe in twice through the lineup anyway. 75 pitches is the new 150
  23. I'm beginning to think the best option is to roll with whoever gets hot between Barger and Orelvis Martinez for 3rd base duties. One of them probably takes over by 2025 anyway. Aside from Chapman, I'm not convinced anyone available would be an upgrade over them. Sign one of Soler, Hoskins, or JD for DH and cross your fingers with a Bellinger contract (or Gurriel if Bellinger bidding goes nuts). Certainly not ideal, but it should be an improved offense over last year. Maybe trade Espinal for a reliever and make Clement the super bench guy since he can sort of play most positions.
  24. We may very well have beaten it. It's entirely possible we were the highest bid by a wide margin. If Ohtani really is making $50m a year in sponsorships, it's possible that may have dropped here by enough to have required us to pay $100M or $200M more than the Dodgers.
