  1. That first inning could have been a hell of a lot worse.
  2. Some interesting discussions they're having with Betances.
  3. That didn't age well.
  4. That's an effortless 100 mph by Schlittler.
  5. On the one hand, having Yariel pitch well would be great for the Jays. On the other hand, this is awesome!
  6. The ump definitely knows his rule book!
  7. I had to look Dykxhoorn up on B-R (ugh). Clean inning!
  8. He's played 2nd, 3rd, and SS in the minors. It wouldn't take much of a drop from last year's poor offense by Gimenez for him to be basically unplayable (you could argue he already was last year). Ernie moves over to SS and someone has to fill 2nd. It's not completely crazy to think Barger could take the position and run with it. Would he be above average defensively? Probably not, but as long as he isn't a butcher the bat will carry him. Will it happen? I doubt it, but that's not what this thread is about.
  9. Vladdy wins the triple crown Scherzer ends the season as the closer Barger ends up as the full time 2nd baseman The Yankees miss the playoffs Tugboat makes starts for Cleveland in the playoffs The Jays have no rookies (other than Okamoto) make their debut next year The Jays get no hit by someone throwing less than 90 mph
  10. Auger-Aliassime and Diallo are playing against each other if you're looking for something to watch.
  11. That was a hell of a job by the Panamanian CF to cut that ball off.
  12. Javen Coleman may be one to watch.
  13. Varsho and Clement probably don't need to be. Gimenez is a question mark. His career splits aren't terrible, but they sure have been the last 2 years. Sanchez absolutely cannot be allowed to face a lefty. We'll have to see if Barger can figure it out. You could probably put Springer in the outfield against lefties and make Heineman the DH. He has a career 113 wRC+ versus lefties. Certainly not ideal, but...
  14. Really not a fan of this trade, but I guess we'll see how things actually shake out. I'm guessing this has more to do with adding some pop off the bench.
  15. More like the Japanese Adam Dunn. He'll be fun to watch though!
  16. Maybe have a products section for the website with some Amazon affiliate links (to Amazon Canada obviously). I'm sure lots of people would be more than happy to click on an affiliate link before making Amazon purchases to help support the site.
  17. I know that, but like I said he's on an expiring contract and they have no hope of competing this year.
  18. IMO Brandon Lowe would be a good target. Not sure what they'd want for him since they did give up a bit to get him. The Pirates have no chance of competing this year and he's on an expiring contract.
  19. I don't think it's that big a deal. Schneider is perfectly capable. In an emergency situation, you have Jimenez and Loperfido on the farm. Barger played games at SS as late as last year prior to coming up, so he might even be an option at 2nd. It certainly wouldn't be a bad idea for the Jays to give Barger and Loperfido some reps there in the spring just in case, but we have potential depth to get through multiple injuries. If we're going to upgrade, it has to be a clear upgrade with the bat, not a marginal one.
  20. Is it an upgrade? Schneider put up almost the same WAR when scaled to playing time.
  21. I really hate Bellinger's splits last year. It could be a case of there being little choice though. He did hit well at RC in a limited sample size, fwiw.
  22. If Clement puts up a 115 wRC+ he might surpass 5 WAR.
  23. I can't see Bellinger going anywhere except New York, but hopefully we can make them pay up for him. The fit is just too good for both of them. Suarez is interesting and should probably be our target. I could see an outside chance of maybe something like Luis Robert Jr for Lucas and Berrios. IMO that makes some sense for both teams.
  24. Doesn't he have more trouble moving to his left than his right?
