  1. With Vlad's power I don't even agree with that part of it. I think the problem is that he's too good at making contact, so when he swings at balls he can't do damage with he puts them in play instead of fouling them off or swinging through them. He just needs to do a better job picking what he swings at.
  2. I wonder what the plan is? It doesn't feel like they're looking to fully rebuild. At the same time, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of elite players available in FA anytime soon.
  3. Huh, so basically 3 first round draft picks for Pascal, and maybe we're able to flip Bruce Brown?
  4. I wonder if we might see the Jays move to a 6 day rotation next year (each of the 4 main starters goes every 7th day)? That would mean some weeks might have a 4 man rotation and some might have a 6 man rotation. Last year with 4 days of rest our starting pitchers put up a 2.72 SO/W, .254 BA, .325 OBP, .421 SLG. On 5 days of rest they put up a 3.50 SO/W, .227 BA, .292 OBP, .381 SLG. That's a pretty substantial difference. Manoah and Rodriguez could both be skipped on weeks with 2 off days or both go on weeks with none.
  5. Interesting that they seem to be targeting contact hitters over pure tools. The Cards had some pretty good success with that for years, so maybe there's something to it.
  6. If more and more teams are moving away from traditional starting pitching anyway, it may make sense. They're probably not looking for him to go more than 4 or 5 innings or twice through the order.
  7. They released the 2 minute report today and concluded that the only two missed calls were two additional ones that should have been called against the Raps and weren't. The problem appears to be deeper than just the refs, because that 4th quarter was complete nonsense.
  8. LeBron thinks he's been fouled if someone breathes on him.
  9. Since when?
  10. This is a very disturbing thread.
  11. Just make the restaurant or whatever it is now a wall and push the fence back to the back of the bullpens. Blow the heating / ac in towards home plate and enjoy our spectacular defense.
  12. Price and potential. His upside is much, much higher than other available options, and we (may) have the flexibility to take on a contract as well, especially in an area of need. If teams really are that cash strapped, it would make a ton of sense.
  13. This is interesting. It makes me wonder if the signing of IKF might have more to do with this than actually covering for 3rd. Bo and Vladdy would certainly have a ton of trade value, and Vladdy's production could probably be replaced via free agency (I'm assuming they're the ones being discussed, but who knows).
  14. I wonder what Kim would cost? He's almost certainly opting out after the season.
  15. The Braves outrighted Fletcher from the 40 man and there were no takers. Forrest Wall is pre-arbitration and is probably basically Cam Eden. I'm not sure that's a ringing endorsement for the idea of paying IKF that kind of money. Hell, I'd (almost) rather stick Vladdy back at 3rd and sign a big bat at 1st before doing this.
  16. The only way I'm not completely outraged with this is if IKF is purely a late inning defensive replacement and injury insurance. I really hate this signing.
  17. Whether I like this move or not depends on what else we do. We need 2 big bats. If KK is taking up one of them, we have a problem. If not, this is a good move at a good price imo. I'd also expect him to be closer to 2 WAR.
  18. Isn't Spanky still hard coded into the site?
  19. Dunno, seems like it caused Springer, Vladdy, and Varsho to lose their mojo.
  20. Bellinger for the outfield. Kyle Lewis could make a potentially interesting 4th outfielder to take a shot on.
  21. I think they mean the warmup pitches on the mound, not in the bullpen.
  22. I'm fine with $25M / year for Bellinger, up to 8 years (although less would be better).
  23. What about Lantigua for the 4th outfielder? He has a good eye and doesn't strike out much, can steal some bases, and last year played every position except 1st and C.
  24. Yeah, if we wait for ideal we'll never be able to field the team we need right now with our window. Sign him and sacrifice an analytics guy to appease the baseball gods.
  25. I would expect he and Biggio will split time at 2nd with the odd appearance in the outfield and 3rd. I guess it's possible Whit is resigned, but I kind of doubt it. Most of the playing time at 3rd will likely be addressed with another option (who knows what at this point, but neither he nor Biggio are likely someone you want to put at 3rd full time).
