  1. Thank you Bruce. Please exercise it if need be!
  2. I can't believe Demar made that shot, even though it won't count.
  3. He put up a 129 wRC+ last year, which was 28th in baseball (tied with Machado). He has a good bat, he just doesn't hit lots of home runs.
  4. Coghlan / Upton could be interesting too.
  5. Hell, give him 3/50 with an opt out after this year.
  6. Even then, cost of living is only a very VERY small portion of what he makes. Most other more luxury things are roughly the same once the exchange rate is baked in, with some exceptions.
  7. Retarded names, and dads naming their sons after them (at least first names, middle names aren't as bad) are two things that really annoy me.
  8. Bet you're gonna wish no one quoted this
  9. Good thing the picture is clearly fake.
  10. If push came to shove, I'd probably be okay with going to 18M per. He really is the perfect fit for us. I'd be a lot happier about it at 16M per though.
  11. I'd say it was his agent being overly optimistic. Edwin is viewed by a lot of people as a DH (he's been part time 1B the last few years, but it's easy to see an NL team being hesitant on running him out there full time). Papi (on short term deals, and he was older) topped out at 16M for a single season. 20M per for four years, plus the pick, probably wasn't going to be beat by much if at all.
  12. The comments from his agent indirectly suggest it too.
  13. Okay, poor choice of words. Our bench IDEALLY has those three.
  14. Pearce has been quite a lot worse in the second halves in his career. Maybe that's partly due to all the injuries, maybe he just can't physically handle playing every day for whatever reason. Regardless, this is an excellent signing at the price. Our bench right now has Pearce (1.5 WAR projection, could be higher), Upton (difficult to project, but likely 1 tp 1.5 WAR if used correctly and he hits more like he did in SD), and Barney (likely 1 to 1.5 WAR). Those are very valuable part time contributions for where we are on the curve. Now if we could upgrade Upton to Dyson (we should have no problem trading Upton given he's basically free), we'd really be on to something with the bench. Given the extra bat that kills lefties, I wonder if this is a prelude to possibly going after Moss? He's slightly above average defensively in the outfield, hits righties well, and probably comes at a reasonable price.
  15. I like this for Spittin actually.
  16. Apparently Jarrod Dyson could be traded soon. If the trade cost isn't too high, he'd be an amazing 4th outfielder (maybe even okay getting more at-bats in a platoon with Upton). He just came off a 3.1 WAR season. No power, but speed to burn and great defense.
  17. Atlanta is having quite an adventure at the free throw line.
  18. GSnarles, we have a winner!
  19. I'd like to get Tolleson. FA, should come cheap, good upside. Chacin too, if we could convince him to become a reliever. Doolittle would be nice, but there's really no reason for Oakland to trade him unless they get a nice return.
  20. Yeah, worth the risk imo.
  21. I'd be happy if we could retain Navarro as the backup, if the price is reasonable. He already knows the staff, the staff seems to like him, he's decent defensively, and for the most part he's not useless at the plate (last year aside).
  22. I'd be in favor of trading Donaldson now if we could get a return to help us this year. Something involving the Dodgers for Pederson and Urias for example (they wouldn't do it mind you, although apparently they are in on McCutchen), then sign Turner.
  23. Declines aren't usually linear. It's probably more likely that he improves quite a bit on last year. The swing is odd, and definitely needs an explanation. It seemed to me that he was throwing a little harder towards the end of last year though, which suggests to me it probably isn't the shoulder.
  24. Yeah, considering Thames just got half that, and a part time player in Jon Jay got 8M (1 year mind you), 11 per doesn't seem that bad.
  25. I'd rather go 5x16 than 4x18, but he is a really good fit. We may have to bite the bullet and overpay a little.
