  1. Yeah, nice fit defensively, but that bat is really something.
  2. This is interesting. Hard to see him having much trade value though.
  3. SRF ahead of De Leon jumps out to me.
  4. I really wanted Holland, but that price is kinda insane.
  5. You can ask them at the State of the ... oh, wait. Yeah, this seems kind of weird. Perhaps with what seems like an unusual number of free agents still available (and a few holes), the front office needs to focus all their time there.
  6. Oldish news, and an offseason showcase. I'd be much more worried if that was the result at the end of a spring training amount of time to build up arm strength.
  7. I'm not so sure. Desmond has put up 4.7, 4.8, 4, 1.7, 3.3 WAR over the last 5 years. A 1.5 estimate feels like it probably accounts for a position change.
  8. Looks like not great, but better than Navarro (outside of 2014 when he was the worst in baseball).
  9. Meh, Valbuena has made a grand total of 34 starts there, only 7 of which were last year. That seems pretty irrelevant. I'd also consider Desmond a better (and more consistent) hitter outside of 2015, DRAMATICALLY better baserunner, and a better overall fielder in general. For what it's worth, Steamer has Valbuena at 0.3 WAR and Desmond at 1.5 WAR.
  10. The only thing fan projections are (possibly somewhat) useful for are playing time projections, assuming a large enough sample size.
  11. Without question imo. Is he worth twice as much per year (plus the pick)? Dunno.
  12. Ideally getting someone who can also play some outfield is more what we need. Coghlan would give us plus fielding (in the OF), and can back up 2nd when Travis goes down. Moss would give us plus fielding in the OF and good power. I'm not sure either would cost more (Coghlan would likely be closer to 3M, if that, but Moss could be 2/15).
  13. I'd be interested if he played 2nd, but he isn't replacing Correa (and I have Baez who can play there too if necessary).
  14. Same with me. He has 9 or 10 SP too, so could probably look to trade at least one of them to free up the space.
  15. Well, if they're trading one of their good arms, I wouldn't expect them to get filler in return. They'd need some things to go right, but it's not unreasonable to think that they could. Getting an MLB ready outfield prospect would help them a lot.
  16. They can also move Brad Miller to 2nd and promote Casey Gillaspie to take over 1st, which would probably help things a bit in the infield.
  17. Prediction: TB now signs Coghlan to split time with Beckham at 2nd, and play some in the outfield. He probably puts up 2 WAR. I really want Coghlan to come here though. Plus in the outfield, can't hit lefties but we have Upton for that, and would provide valuable Travis protection at 2B.
  18. If they fill a hole or two on offense (which I indicated), they certainly could be.
  19. If they can get one or two MLB ready position players for a SP now, they could be dangerous short and longer term.
  20. Wow, very nice deal for the Rays. I wonder if they're now gonna move another starter for a position player?
  21. This kinda feels like an ideal situation for Puig to be dealt.
  22. I'm not sure what the motivation would be for Detroit. He isn't cost prohibitive, and he may be more valuable at the deadline. I have to think organizations are gonna start using mid to late round picks searching for relievers, rather than wildcards.
  23. I wonder if Peavy would be willing to work as a reliever?
  24. Well, he was only 25, can hit triple digits, and put up a 3.74 and 3.60 xFIP in his age 23 and 24 seasons. It's not unreasonable to think he still had a decent chance of reaching his potential. It would be totally different if he was 30 or something imo.
  25. For the BBDL I'm tentatively thinking either pick 20b + pick 40b (sandwich picks basically) in 2017, or pick 10b in 2018 (owner's choice which they prefer). I haven't talked to Cyborg about it yet though.
