The Astros are really, really good, that's what happened. Seriously though, Donaldson threw a ball away (on a great play to nab the ball mind you), and the Astros made us pay.
I'm not even sure Smoak is overachieving. He's cut down his swing, which has dramatically improved his contact rate. It's not like his season has been babip fueled.
I wonder if the Tigers would swap him and Verlander? They'd save some money assuming Verlander's last year becomes guaranteed, and might have an easier time moving Tulo's contract later if they chose to considering Tulo's reasonable final year.
Verlander would be an upgrade to our rotation, even with his struggles.
True, but in real life teams have some control over that. You're at the mercy of both other parties, and have no say in it. The viewpoint is totally valid though.
You'd be better off proposing to move the draft date until after the signing period. You could still draft those players then (in this league), but at least you'd know what you were getting into.
Yep, looks like one of the commissioners dropped him when processing the trade, and forgot to add him to KingFiller's roster. Obviously he belongs to them, but not Jim's fault.
You'd think he'd be #1 by the end of the year, but the White Sox are sure taking their time promoting Moncada. Probably correctly so, but I'm not so sure that they won't just leave him down there this year.
