He actually does have reason to be desperate, AND for that target to be Happ if none of the other potential starters end up on the market. One of Boston or the Yankees are going to be playing a one-and-done playoff game. Playoff shares for the teams, especially the deeper you go, are worth quite a bit - and that's not including whatever profit YES and other ballpark stuff not included in the revenue sharing generates from the games.
I kinda think I'd be inclined to say pass. I'd expect someone would cough up something more enticing. Bote would be an interesting return for Estrada perhaps, but not so much for Happ imo.
That's with the caveat that I'm not sure who Zagurski is.
So what happens with Boxy? Unless he PM'd you guys, he has 13 prospects and what, forfeits the #1, 6, 7, 9 plus other picks on top of that? That doesn't seem good for the league.
Lol, the Japanese audio of that Ohtani home run made it sound like a routine fly ball or something. I don't think the pitch or volume of their voices changed at all (no idea what they said).
If his bat keeps progressing, definitely. I don't know if that will be at 2nd, but if he hits they'll find somewhere to play him. He's leading the league in homers, has an 18% walk rate, and with a .320 babip really isn't even getting lucky.
He'll almost certainly be tendered, and should be, unless he has another major injury before the end of the year. After next year it could be a different story though.
