I don't think most people associate an 8% walk rate, 13% K rate guy as a swing first hacker. -
I'm of two minds about this kind of stuff. I think ultimately that players will adapt (or should adapt), and it'll sort itself out on its own. That said, I could see something along the lines of requiring at least two infielders on each side of the diamond when the pitcher releases the ball or something (not counting pitcher or catcher). That would help reduce the extreme shifts we see slightly, while still allowing teams to deploy them in general.

Martin has value to us still, given the young pitchers we have and the fact he can help mentor Jansen. If we can't get something interesting for Smoak, his ability to dig bad throws could be very helpful with Vladdy at 3rd. There's no reason to keep Pillar though imo.

That was probably their last shot to get a steal of a return for him. He could still fetch a nice package at the deadline, but unless a team gets really freaking desperate it'll be hard to pay an elite price for 1.5 years.

Tough loss. Kawhi was a beast though. Entire team played hard, just couldn't get shots to fall.
