    Looking at the date of the tweet, it sounds like that would have been offered in the winter of 2017 or early spring 2018, when we still expected Donaldson to be elite and part of a competing team. It wasn't last offseason (for obvious reasons). That return probably would have been a little light for someone coming off 8.7, 7.6, and 5.1 WAR seasons.

    Same basic risk today or in 5 days though, only they'd get him for one more start. I don't see that as an excuse for waiting. I think teams will wait until the last minute for buyers and sellers to shake out, since there's so many bubble teams atm.

    He'll start unless there's an imminent trade. He won't make the start on the 29th or 30th though.

    You might be able to make an argument that he's the best starter available even if those guys are on the market. They may have more upside, but all 3 are having subpar years at higher cost.

    It basically sounds like the players only games in the NBA. The Danny Jansen interview was awesome though.

    This has been my stance for quite a while. Reduce the season to 150 games, add a round to the playoffs, eliminate the wildcard, and have each round best of 7. Attendance would probably go up 20% across the league.

    They could still be evaluating Shafer. The injury didn't look good, and that would solve the problem.

    That was really weird looking. I wonder if he lost it in the lights? The ball was about the right height.

    It makes sense. Maybe he figures something out and resigns at a good price. If he doesn't, at least he can eat innings until someone else becomes available. He's going to want to sign somewhere where there's an open opportunity, and we have that. He put up a 4.21 xFIP last year, so he has shown the ability after coming back.

    I'm going to say it'll be Borucki, Sanchez, Waguespack, Harvey, and Reid-Foley.

    Frazier kind of fits that mold, although he's more "prospecty" still. I honestly don't think Frazier plus a few wildcards is a bad return, but I'm higher on him that a lot of people here.

    There's only the single trade deadline this year, isn't there? I would expect we may see more activity than in previous years due to that.
