Beverley is flopping around like a fish out of water. If he keeps it up, he's going to start getting no calls at all. 4 minutes into the game and I'm betting he has one fine on the way already.

Maybe. Maybe not. I kind of get a feeling that more teams than normal are either unwilling or unable to spend on the top guys. If that's the case, the market may not get held up to the same degree as previous years while people wait for Boras to emerge from hibernation.

I like Wander, but he's really raw. It's a lot harder to hide an infielder than a pitcher.

I think it's more likely they'd carefully watch all the position players who can see / get passed the sign. There's a lot of people who could potentially tip a pitch, and it should be observable from the batters box.

It's incredible how bad he is at layups. He needs to start just trying to dunk everything near the rim or something, because the layups aren't working.

I'm not sure he can even jump. That does stop him from biting on fakes though.

WTF? How the hell is that NOT pass interference in the HOU - BAL game? He was literally tackled before the ball got there on a catchable pass! What's the point of reviews if they're just going to ignore the evidence anyway?

Well, Pascal still needs to work on some things. Those were horrible decisions down the stretch. Can't complain one little bit about this road trip though.

The league is getting really protective of QBs. He was basically picked up off the ground by the face mask, his head was twisted around, the helmet was ripped off, then he was hit really damn hard with it in the head/face. All of it was clearly intentional. I mean, Burfict got 12 games for a helmet to helmet hit that happened, and that at least happened in a split second during a play. There's only 7 games left in this season, I think.

Aside from his home run rate, I'd kind of prefer Gibson to Odorizzi even at even money, let alone a few million less. Hell, sign both, and forbid Gibson from ever throwing another 4-seamer again.

His WAR is likely significantly inflated from reality due to FIP / xFIP difference. He's basically a 4 xFIP pitcher as it currently stands. I don't like the idea of giving 20M / year for that. 15M I can get behind.

Unless Wheeler is closer to the 15M / year range, I really feel like he's a mistake. Some guys just don't put it together, whether from bad instruction or stubborness. He actually seems a lot like Bauer. All the talent in the world, but the results just don't match. Speaking of Bauer, in 2017 and particularly 2018, he finally breaks out by doing what? Increasing the usage of his best pitches and decreasing the usage of his worst. What does he do this year? Dramatically increases the usage of his two worst pitches and produces a 4.33 xFIP as a reward.

Boucher isn't ready to take on Gasol's role yet. I feel like his minutes are perfect right where they are right now - high enough to develop further, but low enough that the rough parts of his game aren't getting too exposed.

The cost also essentially decreases for each free agent. It's possible we could sign multiple free agents and take advantage of it that way. There's a few guys who could produce some pretty nice surplus value. We could theoretically sign guys like Ozuna, Grandal, Odorizzi, and others.

They may have taken performance with respect to age into account too (not that they should). Can't complain with either choice, but I think Cole clearly should have won it.
