Is it even a jerk play? I mean, players sometimes throw close to that kind of money around at teammates to get a jersey number they want and things like that. Many of the fans out there may have purchased those tickets specifically in the hopes they might catch it, and it might mean a lot to them to have that piece of history too. If it was an underpaid rookie hitting their first home run, that might be very different. For someone hitting their 500th, who has made over 300M in their career, it doesn't really seem unfair to me.
