If you asked me who averages the greatest distance on their HR's I would have immediately said Cruz or Napoli. While Napoli is in third and Cruz 17th, I'm shocked to see J Upton leading the way, with Trout in second. 3 Jays average over 400 ft per HR and 2 more are at 395 (Minimum 5 HR's)
I make fun of the almost a month without a walk for Zunino but he also had 10 in his first 18 games and a 12% rate last year. I think he just decided to get in Eric Wedge mode a little too early.
Gary Sanchez too. K-Rates going down, BB going up but it's still only 200 PA's repeating the level. So much overall to like but to hype him as an MVP if he sticks at Catcher is a little overblown. Sounds like me with TdA.
yep...I just wish my offense as good I hoped when drafting them (OF continue to kill me), cause this pitching staff has gone 34-18 so far this year:
Josh Collmenter
Anthony Swarzak
Adam Wainwright
Wade Miley
Bud Norris
Rafael Soriano
Drew Storen
Jake McGee
Wesley Wright
Cody Allen
Tommy Milone
Eric Stults
Kyle Lohse
Chad Billingsley
Nathan Eovaldi
JR Graham (Minors)
If you remember in Moneyball there was a section where Alderson talked about how he started preaching OBP and how players were refused a promotion if they didn't have a 10% BB rate...every one of their affiliates led their league in BB rate but then they got to the majors and LaRussa wasn't buying into it and they were only middle of the pack in the majors. Guys like Giambi were confused by it when they first came up. They replaced TLR with Art Howe and even said you are here to follow an org wide initiative and if you don't follow it you will be fired. Managers have to learn to let players be who they are, especially when it was successful in the minors. I have no idea how many pitches Ackley took in the minors but if he was selective then, he should be now.
I like Gibson a lot, but he's always an injury risk. Overall I see him being very Jarrod Parker esk (more last year Parker than this year). He just doesn't give up any flyballs so HR's will never be an issue for him, guys can make solid contact with him though. He'll have games where he gives up a bunch of hits.
They took them back at the box office and I'm out of town on the 7th. I'd rather be told that I have an open pair for any game I want at Best Seat available. I don't really want to get the ticket rep in trouble but he really blew the customer service side of things here (no surprise with the Jays) as he should have upgraded me right away.
So my adventure for the game. Show up at the gate and my ticket doesn't scan. I was sent tickets for June 7th game instead. I call my sales agent and he apologizes and says go to subscriptions services and he'll take care of. So I get there and have to wait 10 minutes, missing part of the first. but we have our new tickets. Instead of 1st row in section 115, we are now 26th row into right field (113B). Get home and there isn't an apology email and as far as I know the tickets aren't being comped or a credit being put on my account. I have a pretty good working relationship with my rep...so what should I be asking for?
McGowan has until June 12th before he has to be recalled. Even though they have a spot now with the Ortiz DFA, I think they will bring someone else on to the roster and let Dustin use his full 30 days. This just gives two more weeks.
He was supposedly upset with EE and JPA during their HR's. So he chirped is what is being reported. Hope we see him plunked tomorrow, I have seats close enough to hear if they speak up.
he has the worst twitter account ever. on April 25th he wrote this though
He's in Florida and mentions Bluefield so maybe they are looking to bring him back when the short season starts. Hard to tell he makes Ang look like an English major.
Shopping around Kipnis or Seager. If it's Kipnis I need a 2B for next year back in the deal which will probably make it difficult to get done. I consider Seager to be more of a 4th round type guy now, not the 7th rounder he was in March. I have 4 OF's with OBP's under .300. That would be a good place to start your offers.
Progression of Events...
Tonight - Just a precaution, he'll be fine.
Friday - He's feeling a little uncomfortable, he'll start try and go on the weekend.
Sunday - we need a little wiggle room we are going to put him on the 15 day DL retroactive to the 27th.
June 11 - Transferred to the 60 day
August - Rehab is pushed back going to get him on an off season program.
Yordano Ventura vs. Keyvius Sampson was as well a pitched game as I've seen at any level this year. San Antonio won after Ventura was removed.
Ventura 8IP, 4 Hits, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K's
Sampson 7 IP, 5 Hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K's
MDR or Blanco can't sell jerseys or create any buzz at all, this guy obviously can. As a baseball move Kawasaki is adequate...but DFA'ing him would be a horrible management decision.
Boni has speed and versatility. It's not needed here right now (and he's so bad at 2B that the versatility is really more perception than reality) but someone will give us a non prospect for him (throw another bad reliever into the mix). Other option is of course trading Rajai but he has to be healthy for that to happen.
actually has a major league skill set. You have to make sure that he's coming up and being used. With some guys coming off the 60 day DL (McGowan has to soon) the Storey's and Webers get DFA'd. Wagner probably won't get his chance until it looks like he'll be able to stick for the year. It's similar to Negrych.
Wil Myers - Alarming K-Rates, isn't hitting a bunch out of the park. If I had to do the draft over right now ... I'd still take him I'm not that stupid.
George Springer - Alarming K-Rates, is hitting for a lot of power. If I had to to do the draft over right now...he'd probably already be taken.
Mason Williams - Wasn't happy with the pick at the time. I still think he's a legit CF prospect but the numbers are effected by his off field issues.
Eddie Rosario - Read a glowing review of his 2B D recently. Knowing he's sticking at 2B and has to be added to the 40 man next year. I'm loving this pick, good contact makes up for his lack of walks, solid number of XBH's show he's got some power. Very Altuve'esk. I'll say he's a top 10 2B in the majors by 2015.
JR Graham - There are guys taken after him that I'd be happier with...a guy leaving with shoulder discomfort will do that though. Great articles about him changing his grip and starting position prior to the injury. Scope showed no damage and they prescribed rest. Considering I drafted him looking for him to become a reliever, only number that matters to me is that triple digit speed on the gun.
Lance McCullers Jr. - traded him. Don't know what to make of him. He's can't seem to go more than 5 innings, has control issues but he's looking like a legit GB and K pitcher. He's got closer stuff but he's young enough to work on lowering the BB's which will help him out and he might stick at starter.
