  1. who the f*** schedules exams on Baseball winter meetings week. So much to say...so little knowledge of what is going on. Go Rays!
  2. we aren't anything until Fatcow knows the lineup

  4. Fast forward to 2016 "f***ing Hinske is the reason we have this useless catcher for 2 more years"

  6. I believe it was. I know Detroit was one of the biggest failures. Washington interestingly enough were still set at 80.5 in the over/under totals that year as bettors/Vegas were not buying into the payroll increase. Might have to do with the supposed improvement of all those other teams in their division (Marlins were set at 83.5, Braves 87.5 and Phillies 96.5)
  7. It does kind of mirror what is happening in Toronto with Farrell being an Anti-Wedge being a little more politically correct with his comments about the org.
  8. I did something last year about the 10 biggest payroll increases of the past 15 years providing 1 playoff team. The Dodgers, with the biggest increase ever last season, would be the second team...with some other team (can't think of who right now) adding to the "barely any increase in wins" category.
  9. I don't mind 2 pitchers if one is on a 1 year contract. I'm a believer in Hutch for sure (I think he's as good or better than Stroman still, just no longer shiny and new) and don't like to assume a pitcher (thinking Morrow here) will be injured when they are entering the season supposedly healthy.
  10. Current healthy pitchers on the 40 man. Morrow, Dickey, Buehrle, Happ, Drabek, Redmond, Hutch, Nolin, Rogers, Jenkins, Deck & Rasmussan. Stroman being added will happen by September anyway. I don't care if some minor league deal guy comes into Buffalo and strikes out 100 straight batters (including Rickey Romero), we should not be straying from a pool of those 13 to replace either reliever or starter. We also shouldn't have any relievers on the 40 man in the minors (he will, cause he's a f***ing idiot, but we shouldn't). Our bigger concern this year in injuries to our OF.
  11. Keeping Stroman, Hutch, Nolin and Sanchez. At least two true platoons.
  12. The fastballs might be similar and both throw solid change-ups, Nolin has a much better curve and actually throws a slider. Mills depended solely on guys swinging at stuff outside of the zone, the minute he had to work in the zone he was f***ed. The frames are very different. Mills was short and relatively skinny, Nolin is 6'5" and bulky, most often compared to Jason Jennings. However, I like Nolin's swing and miss stuff better. If he can work anywhere near a 2.5/1 K/BB ratio I'll say that Nolin will be a solid and durable #4.
  13. Wells 2014 - $24.642,857 Toronto - $3,642.857 (signing bonus) Angels - $18,600,000 NYY - $2,400,000 Yankees are also getting $14M from the Cubs for Soriano.
  14. Just one year left on Wells...that contract seemed like an eternity at one time.
  15. Not sure what to make of Rasmus still. He's now had two good seasons with the bat, and in both he increased his K-Rate to over 27% and got carried by a high BABIP (over .350). In the two seasons in between his K-rate sat in the 23% range and he carried a .260ish BABIP. The differences in his line drive rates aren't really that huge. He's obviously a mental midget and struggles when he's asked to change his approach. Just let him be Gump.
  16. I guess he had some bonuses he reached
  17. It was a comment about Moore not questioning the validity. I have heard stories about the Jays and antiquated systems on draft day as well as their "player cards".
  18. Anyone else actually picturing Dayton Moore having a big bulletin board up with a list of players he wants to trade for
  19. Stupid hips still cost him $2 million

  21. He's just not flashy...overall the value is right (Surprised they had to give him 3 years), the guy is a ground ball machine. I'm just surprised that it was Houston that gave him the contract. Trying to build value and move him later is likely.
  22. Triunfel is simply a DFA candidate at this point. Someone with a clear need for a defensive replacement will probably give up a non factor piece for him but in Seattle he's done. After the issues Ackley had with Wedge I feel that he's the one to go in a trade but it wouldn't surprise me if Seattle now overtrades it's one position of depth cause they have a BP need.
  23. North American source: not true
  24. got to admit Infante as a Yankee won't bother me
