  1. I just would like to know if the BB rate is because they aren't pitching to him. Last 9 games his 37 PA's 13 BB/15K 4 hits (0 HR's)...8 balls in play in a 9 game stretch. on the season he's had just 98 balls in play so far. I'll give him credit, I was really down on him last year but if he keeps his K-rate where it is, he'll be a successful hitter at any level. Plus he's striking out less than my #1 prospect Kris Bryant.
  2. I'd like to point out that Jim Negrych had a .370/.448/.510 line in the Carolina league as a 22 year old.
  3. From Law's chat today...Kyle from Dallas = Grant from the Soo Kyle (Dallas) Does Joey Gallo warrant a call-up to AA ball? From listening to the games I get the impression that he can sometimes be bored at the plate by not being challenged. Klaw (2:18 PM) No, he doesn't. I can't say I advise anyone to scout off the radio.
  4. Frank (Chicago) What's the word on the elbow surgery Kyle Freeland had a few years ago? Does he have a clean bill of health now? Klaw (2:09 PM) I know some teams flunked him this year, and some cleared him, so it's just a matter of each team's doctor's opinion. And I wouldn't take the fact that anyone flunked him as definitive - a couple of teams flunked Scherzer in the draft too. Jesse (Minneapolis) What's the lowest and highest Hoffman goes? Klaw (2:12 PM) I think highest is 4. Lowest could be sandwich round to a team with extra picks - Houston would probably do cartwheels, although Luhnow's glasses would fall off so maybe not. Jason (Cleveland) Keith great list really liked it. Just a couple of questions. Was T. Walker excluded because of playing time or has he just fallen that far? Also was wondering how close was Tyler Glasnow and Austin Meadows to making the list? Klaw (2:13 PM) Walker was excluded because he needs to drastically change his delivery. Glasnow slipped because the reports on his command are worse this year. Meadows hasn't even played this year so I didn't have any reason to race him up the board like that. Jay (PA) No Bundy in your updated Top 25? Obviously the injury/surgery are the big question but Giolito also made the list. Is being a year ahead, surgery-wise what sets the two apart? Klaw (2:14 PM) One guy is pitching in games, the other isn't. We've seen Giolito's stuff is back. We won't know for sure on Bundy until he's on a mound. JL (Vancouver) Are the Jays really after Touki? From what you are hearing, are they planning to take a prep pitcher and college fielder? Klaw (2:15 PM) I just know they want guys with upside. Anthopoulos did go see Trea Turner at the ACC tournament (for a day - color me surprised Avent still has his job after the season they had), so he's somewhere in their mix. I have had them with Hoffman and Touki, both very high-upside selections. I don't see them taking anyone who's "safe" with a low ceiling.
  5. Law's chat is going on right now Kyle (Visalia) At this point, what do you think the odds are that someone other than Aiken go 1/1? Klaw (2:05 PM) Maybe 40% Aiken, 30% Rodon, 30% Alex Jackson? Those are the only three names they're on, and I might be overweighting Jackson a little. Nick (Chicago) Is that any validity to the rumor that the Astros would snag Nick Gordon #1? If so, how would the next 3 picks play out? Klaw (2:05 PM) No validity, sorry. Tyler Beede (Nashville) I saw your mock draft and you have me falling out of the first round. Last time I checked I am still a 6' 4" righty with a plus fastball and change. And my K/BB is better than last year. I'm sure a team will take me in the first round...right? Klaw (2:06 PM) In a draft full of RH with power arms, most of whom throw more strikes than Beede does and don't have the same makeup concerns, I don't think it's a lock that "you" go in the first round. James (NY) Why would Brady Aiken's "adivosr" advise him to take a below slot deal with the Astros when he is one of the few elite guys in the draft? Klaw (2:06 PM) Because below-slot at 1 might be more than his best alternative - say, slot at 4. John (VA) Any chance Jacob Gatewood or Monte Harrison is there for the Red Sox at 26? Klaw (2:08 PM) Yes, but I don't know that they take either of them. Justin (TN) How many Vanderbilt signees do not make it to campus in the fall? Klaw (2:09 PM) Don't think Sheffield, Touki, or Cease get there (and rumor is Sheffield's older brother Jordan might transfer out to a JC). Waiting to see on Kendall.
  6. just not seeing it....May 2012 Sportsnet showed a profit of $40M for the year. I just don't see the Jays being a huge profit for them to make up for a loss for everything else they do.
  7. Now I need a 1B...but much more the kind of deal I was looking for. Everything else was a lot of nice pieces but only one other person was offering a legit upper echelon talent in return and I never got deep enough into talks with him when I got your deal. Thought you could have left me Waino's start to help me take down NJH
  8. only was able to catch the game from the 6th on so I don't know what happened early but the Royals had a legit run taken off of the board so it all evens out
  9. Maybe Tiny Tim will come in and make this a good loss for you
  10. I think Beltran did it twice in a game. Possibly both pitchers though.
  11. you think they are making $150M+ a year? I'm pretty sure they are not. The last time I actually read the quarterly report the entire Media division was only showing a $64M profit. Sportsnet is the star of that division but it's still not all the Jays bringing in money for them.
  12. go back to the original thread. I said around the Rogers Centre. You can sit 1st row...but you aren't getting to see me naked. You have to buy me a flight to Miami for that.
  13. 1. I know I probably missed a few but I included every single worst to first I could remember...so exception would be a poor choice of words 2. Hendricks wouldn't make the post-season roster today, and Happ would be in the pen. 3. The AL east is a terrible division
  14. I have an offer out there for Waino, Pujols and Fowler. It involves 2 top 50 prospects, 2 first rounders and two NA players I really like. I don't want to retool with A ball players. I want offers of major league ready talent.
  15. even as horrible as he's pitching I can see a Tim Collins three inning save this series.
  16. Got you bitch....my Birthday isn't until November
  17. Only in my mind. I'm 44 this year.
  18. 91 Twins had Allen Anderson, David West, Mark Guthrie, Tom Edens, Willie Banks start 58 games. 1993 Phillies had Ben Rivera start 28 games. The 1997 Giants had a rotation of Estes, Rueter, Gardner, Vanlandingham, Alvarez and Osvaldo Fernandez. 1998 Padres had Sterling Hitchcock and Pete Smith (not to mention a way way way way past his prime Mark Langston), 1999 D-Backs had Omar Daal, Reynoso, Brian Anderson and Todd Stotlemyre. 2008 Rays had Andy Sonnastine, 2011 D-Backs had Zach Duke, Amando Gallaraga, and Barry Alright. Outside of the 2007 Cubs every worst to first team I remember had piecework or well below average starters on their team. It's usually part of the reason they were in last the year before.
  19. Rogers isn't about to take a bath on the Jays...everyone knows that (and even if they did they could sell it off at a tidy price. First off I believe that the Jays should go for it this year and make a run. I don't believe this team is built for a long sustainable run, so go ahead and add a piece or two, or three. I don't think fans should make stupid comments about blaming Rogers for no spending. They f***ing well doubled the payroll over 3 years...most team's fans would kill for that commitment. Especially when there were no results to justify the move (and the profits have actually went down since then). People keep saying win and it will change things...if I'm a corporate head I'm saying "win, up profits, and then I'll give you more money". That's the model I want to see built. Show you have value on your team. Sustainable success, or a model where it looks like it could be. How about increased sales in tickets. This model of "increase payroll and success and profits will come" is pure and utter ********. Build, market, turn profits and payrolls increase. It's a business, don't deal in BS s*** that's not true. Yankees didn't draw the best attendance in the AL until they made the playoffs for 7 straight years and won 4 world series. So yes increase payroll for the rest of the year...but f*** if it doesn't work then the cuts (payroll and heads) should be expected. Did we have any left?
  20. Fair enough, will be an interesting division in the trade market. First to make a move likely ups the trade market for all the league.
  21. Okay I'll hold off on my showing up to your work
  22. OP registered with his work address if that helps anyone's mind to be at ease. I unfortunately have to visit his work often enough so I can troll him at work if he rips you off
