  1. I can't wait for this division to come down a series of coinflips after everyone finishes 81 and 81.
  2. Yet somehow the Rays should be in a rush to get a deal done.
  3. Jays say no...partially for the reasons I mentioned earlier. Also because it's not nearly enough. The Jays giving up about $15M in salary this year (for players that project to still put up 3.5 fWAR) and only a savings of $26M next year. And would still have a team full of holes. Marte and Romero are not impact bats at all. At least ask for Zunino in the deal.
  4. I've always said that I'd make a horrible GM as I couldn't give a s*** what the team is worth (I can understand bottom line costs and profits but Valuation would mean s*** to me), but that's very real. The Jays had a disaster season last year on the field and their valuation went up $42M...despite an operating income loss. So it's not just ticket sales that they get. Believe me this is stuff I can't stand in baseball (The Phillies are evaluated $250M higher than they were in 2012 despite a front office ruining the product on the field). I agree that there are trades that help the Jays without a high cost. I just don't know if this front office can find them or are looking in that direction.
  5. I'm not saying I know what they are doing, I just believe they don't know what they are doing. Right or wrong there are very, very, very few front offices that would do the moves you are suggesting (trading Bautista and EE as early as this off season) after increasing spending the way the Jays did. The Rays could put out an entire team of Mike Trout's and they still aren't going to sell out. Which is what allows them to make the moves they make.
  6. Abort or deliver prematurely?
  7. I"m not sure why everyone is so certain this is the only year that the AL East will be weak.
  8. The casual fans know two things...what the mainstream media tell them and "former Cy Young award winner. Not to mention $25M a season, even my Mom who only watches the Jays and the only non Jays she knows are Papi (who she thinks that's his real name), Jeter, A-Rod and a smattering of a former Jays, she'd know that's superstar money. Spending = buzz IMO.
  9. Forget letting him pitch...he'd be the best 2B we have by far.
  10. I don't agree with the move...but Lee gets that 2013 pre-season buzz back. Trading anyone contributing to this team destroys that. Seeing as I don't believe in this front office to make good value decisions I think they may as well take a big cash gamble over other options.
  11. Sounds like sound projections with no bias at all.
  12. Fine I'll guarantee that too
  13. For what it's worth Oliver projects 2.8 WAR for Buehrle in 2015 and 2016 while Lee is projected at 7.4 WAR.
  14. I guarantee the Jays have interest in Lee.
  15. I hate 14 day weeks when I'm not prepared for them. I was happy with the 5-5 draw
  16. I really though that the Cubs would change Bryant's starting position with his hands. It's a minor thing and he's obviously doing okay with it, but it still isn't a good position.
  17. He doesn't hit monster HR's or throw 98. It can be expected.
  18. I love Francisco Lindor ever since he came over to shake my hand and say "Hello" when I went to the Lake County game and he was sitting out that day.
  19. Got to wonder how these two aren't major league hitting coaches. http://www.jeremyharvey.com/websites/lvballbusters/coaches.htm I don't care if it's their sons the coached the two best power hitters in the minors. That makes careers out of high school and club ball coaches in other sports.
  20. and we need depth at all positions. I really hate the "backup" and "reliever" as complete negatives when talking prospects.
  21. Didn't Adam Jones win a major league GG last year? Honestly the Minor league GG's will almost always go to the player who has a good combination of low errors and high assists. It's not even voted for by the players or coaches in the league, just Rawlings. Not saying he's a bad fielder just more of a wait and see.
  22. Again...do not trust prospect reports of defense for anyone below AAA. Most times for CF it just means athlete = good D
  23. That is the kind of inside info we get from Ang on his fellow Mexicans. Micah Johnson is really interesting from a fantasy baseball point of view given that he is a 2B and his ability to steal upwards of 50 (although he's getting caught a lot this year)
