  1. more like 4 years later he's getting his revenge on Beest. He knows damn well that Rogers told AA to spend in 2012 because they were taking a PR s***-kicking in getting the blame for the team's inadequacies. Well with the growing anti-Rogers movement happening again, Boras is throwing a little fuel on the fire. He's such a beautiful petty little man.
  2. MLK was a horrible hitting coach though
  3. The positive news is that he still tore apart the ball in the PCL last year, and, over the last 3 years he was in Seattle, he has passable numbers on the road. The bad is that he's a below average defensive 1B and can't run at all. Essentially he can thrive in one scenario...the one where he is seeing mostly fastballs. So it's Juan Francisco with less defensive value, in a position of less need.
  4. It is interesting that I hear this story from someone who works for the org (and it was that hard hitting reporter Gregg Zaun that reported about Seitzer moving for family reasons) and it's not public knowledge. You don't need to throw Seitzer under a bus, just play up the family angle. In the end, even a Justin Smoak signing is enough to get most to stop caring about the Jays having to sign their 13th hitting coach in 20 years.
  5. Turns out he just took a job to be closer to his family and Atlanta gave him 3 years and he accepted. Didn't even approach the Jays to up their offer.
  6. I think the first 2 rows of the 200 are held back for full season ticket holders. I'll ask the ticket guy I go to school with on Thursday and let you know. I'll still get a 20 ticket 500 level flex pack despite the raised prices.

Challenge time pick 5...I'll add Dallas under to my list (wanted to put the Raptors here but decided against) Dallas under Phoenix under Denver under Miami under Indiana over. Honestly 76ers under 15 should be a lock but I can't bring myself to do that.

They still have some easy home games early in the season (Philly, Bucks) once everyone but George is back this is still a .500 club IMO. Good defensive bigs alone are more than enough to win some games in the East (even with no guards)

Vegas win totals for Over unders. Seriously there are four pretty easy bets IMO. Heat under 44, Pacers over 33, Denver under 42.5 and Phoenix under 43.5. Cleveland Cavaliers 58.5 San Antonio Spurs 57.5 Los Angeles Clippers 55.5 Chicago Bulls 55 Oklahoma City Thunder 53.5 Golden State Warriors 51 Dallas Mavericks 50.5 Houston Rockets 50.5 Memphis Grizzlies 48.5 Portland Trail Blazers 48.5 Washington Wizards 48 Toronto Raptors 48 Miami Heat 44 New York Knicks 40.5 Brooklyn Nets 42 Charlotte Hornets 44 Indiana Pacers 33 New Orleans Pelicans 43.5 Atlanta Hawks 41.5 Denver Nuggets 42.5 Detroit Pistons 36 Phoenix Suns 43.5 Boston Celtics 27 Los Angeles Lakers 29.5 Minnesota Timberwolves 28 Sacramento Kings 30 Orlando Magic 27 Utah Jazz 26.5 Milwaukee Bucks 24 Philadelphia 76ers 15
  10. I'm going to play the Sunday $3 Million for football next week. $25 entry...you got to be almost perfect to win the thing but who knows.
  11. Usually around there. Only contract I remember being public was when Jaramillo signed with the Cubs and got 3 years $2.5M. He was the highest paid back then.
  12. Seitzer leaves, chances are Jays fans choice for a job with the team (Molitor) is going to get a managers job in Minny. I sense a PR batting instructor signing now. Maybe as big a name as Alomar but likely former Gibbons teammate Mookie Wilson. Maybe a bigger name guy like Bichette who isn't affiliated with the team or they jump the Yankees and get Chili Davis.
  13. I'm surprised that Meyiwa's death isn't getting more press.
  14. Just heard. Terrible news, wondering how they handle it on the broadcast tonight
  15. The article it came from, much more like a list of things that teams should do rather than insider info that they are shopping him http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/10/25/jon-hart-andrew-friedman-have-new-challenges-new-jobs/VDdE9s6NjqhKZkq61e3r1L/story.html
  16. I was just pointing out a falsehood that many were discussing. As someone that went to several games in Montreal every year through the 90's; I don't actually believe that Montreal deserves a team. There are thousands of hardcore baseball fans in that city...but the French casuals just don't give a s*** at all. Nor does much of corporate Montreal (that could change with a new team rather than the old team that was there previously). The marketing that the Expos wasted throughout the 80's and 90's to bring the French in was just that, wasted money. Again maybe you can make the game the place to go in Montreal, but I still doubt it's long-term success. Do I want the Rays in Montreal...absolutely my team, playing in the city of my former team, would be amazing. Do I think they deserve a team? Not really. In other news the Jays will be doing their part to make this happen as they announced another exhibition series in Montreal for March.
  17. Pretty sure that Montreal would be disqualified from Revenue sharing as they'd be in the top 15 markets in the majors.
  18. Wasn't everyone on the Pendleton rescued?
  19. I think it's the Cubs.
  20. Yes they are...just not transparent or including everything.
  21. I am in mourning at this point...but I've always said a manager doesn't mean much to a team. Maddon was one of the few player draws that Tampa had. Even the platoon guys they often attract might be more difficult to sign there this year.
  22. Last two years in the minors... Vs. LHP .292/.372/.465 (288 PAs, 20.5% K's) vs RHP .287/.375/.421 (719 PAs, 17.8% Ks)
  23. I think it's been 4 years for the flex packs. It's just rough timing for this IMO. Puts a lot of pressure on the team to make significant moves (which I think they will...quality of those moves is what I question)
  24. at least for flex packs. My 20 ticket packs which got me 20 tickets for $200 is now $260. I haven't looked at all the rest yet but usually that is across the board. Anyone else go through the process to see some of the others? Edit: Looks like 500 level had much larger percentage increases than the others. It's between 5% and 35% across the board.
