    I was looking at the original draft recently and there were a few stand out drafts. BTS not having a pick before 60 and ending up with Betts and Danny Salazar is pretty impressive (love the way they are anchors in the True Cards lineup today)

    The banned "we need infield depth" guy has been vindicated. Edit: Just found the thread...he is not banned. Still stupid, now vindicated but not banned. We should have moderation around here to fix that.

    Is there anyone truly concerned about the Pen if Storen and Cecil are healthy and pitching close to their form? Acquiring a "proven" guy at this point wouldn't be worth the price. So it's internal options or hoping to catch lightning in a bottle somewhere.

    When Sanchez got three games for hitting Escobar after a warning they said that is the minimum they give for post warning HBP. I'd like to say that they should give whatever coach it was that was pumping up the crowd when Bush came to the dugout.

    The guy he hit forgave him. He's got a contract that says if he drinks again he loses his contract. If he does things now, I think people should be judged by how they work with their mistakes, he's got a chance to put himself in a teaching role, and says he is going to take that opportunity. So I don't see it the same as you. I'm okay with the people hating him, but I wish people would stop calling him crazy.

    Only thing beyond the bat flip was not saying the bat flip was wrong. That was the one comment I kept hearing from players and Rangers fans for a couple weeks the Bat Flip.

    come on now. Jays fans were calling for ARod to be plunked in the head after the Howie Clark incident. Good players always incite the most reaction from opposing fans. There are professional players who are saying Bautista "deserved" to get hit. Rangers fans won't be embarrassed, they are proud, just like most Jays fans would be. The players involved will get suspended as they deserve to be and we'll probably keep talking about it for a while.

    I suppose I can't support Bush saying that alcoholism is a disease and then rip York...but this f***er needs help.

    Bush faced Bautista down 5 runs on Friday. If he wanted to "endear" himself to his teammates he would have done it then. And alcoholic and crazy are not the same thing.

    the game is changing as much as you hate to see it. They should have changed this rule 10 years ago (well 20 but at least when the NCAA did). Illegal slides at second are not acceptable. In this case it was intentional. While Odor's reaction was probably a reflection of who he is...this scenario is probably going to start a fight 95% of the time.

    Yeah I think he tried to catch him off the head. That angle also shows that if Odor doesn't get the right foot up at exactly that time Bautista would have caught it good.

    I stopped coaching because I gave my players and parents ground rules which essentially said that we wouldn't follow the unwritten rules of baseball...we'd follow my written rules. Which included any player on my team found throwing a player or taking out a player on slide would be removed from the game and possibly removed from the team. Parents weren't willing to accept that and I asked the assistants to take over. If someone shows you up...laugh it off. If someone tries to take you out, let the umps deal with it. These were 14 year old AAA players in 1996. I have been for a slide rule change for over 20 years now...but when I said Bautista (who I haven't hid that I dislike) deserved to get punched I'm breaking my own coaching rules so i take that back and just say "his slide, and all dirty slides into second, deserve punishment".
