I will just make it public. Let me know if you join. Draft in 80 minutes. Very last minute but I have set up a playoff fantasy football draft (8:45 tonight) on Fantrax. Just $10 to join with at least top two will pay out. Standard half point per reception fantasy scoring. Twist is there will be no bench and no dropping or adding players. Your 8 team you draft is what you get. Total points through the end of the superbowl. https://www.fantrax.com/newui/fantasy/joinLeague.go?leagueId=fxvoj67ylcrv7xnr I will work out the payments later. Confirm if you are in this chat please
  4. Actually 2019 was one of his worst seasons
  5. I hear Cutch was the backup plan if they didn't get Belt
  6. Former Rays FTW. Only 70 walks in his 6 year career.
  7. I assumed based on Runs scored. I think they will be better. But the league will likely be better. wRC+ same or slightly lower
  8. You can give him the shittiest tenders anyway...it won't matter once he puts ketchup on them. Makes you wonder how many other terrible life choices he makes
  9. pretty sure he was shifted against every AB. He also was 9 for 13 on bunting against the shift. So you'd have to take that into account too. Overall it's probably more about his health
  10. one they have a trade potentially worked out?
  11. It is a phrase used a lot in Women in Sports groups. Men want action (agression) in the their sports, whether is live or online. Women want safety, which generally means less interaction with men. It's very generalized statement that I probably shouldn't make, and it will shift over the next 10 years.
  12. great depth pickup. Feel bad for him because he pretty much has to be Degrom in spring to move past White on the depth chart. Although Kikuchi has options so I suppose it could happen, but just can't see it. Who's next off the 40 man next if they make anymore moves? Danner? They might not make another signing until Ryu can be put on the the 60 day. Guys without options who aren't a lock in a role: Mitch White Trevor Richards Everyone else I can think of has options, and a little upside.
  13. Baseball had lots of women's groups and meetups for almost a decade. I know the Jays did as many on our old board participated. Marketing in baseball has moved to digital and the focus on community is more of a Jays Care thing now. That's true throughout the MLB. As recent as 2015, MLB had the highest percentage among the big 4 in female fans. NFL passed them overall and in under 35 NBA and NFL passed MLB. I don't know much about NBA's marketing strategies, but it was a direct effort by the NFL to get these women. MLB dropped their efforts at the same time (probably because they need under 35 males more). The strategies in getting men and women into the stadium are very different.
  14. 46% female fans last year. Online engagement up 21% last year from female fans. When the NFL lost the angry old men 7 years ago. They did everything right from a marketing point of view. They got rid of the bedazzled merch (well except Dallas who always had a solid female fanbase) and went with women's only events, and fanclubs and groups. Most teams actually hired women to market to women (novel idea). Gambling will be next area that markets to women. Baseball was really the first to start this but for some reason the consensus was that baseball was a safe place for female fans and most teams went away from it.
  15. This isn't a fanbase that is going to accept payroll going backwards lightly. Yes they have quite a bit coming off next year but it's also some pretty important players (except Ryu's $20M but that is probably swallowed into Vlad, Varsho and Bo 2024 increases). Best thing would just be win a World Series this year and no one thinks twice about going over.
  16. Just coming to say I got it wrong. Also yes Nashville has always been my number 2 choice for an Expansion city (right after Mexico City)
  17. Mattingly gone before he even steps foot in Canada.
  18. The Jays are in the works to return the GAB program, would be a crazy reactions to say we are committed to growing the sport for Women and Girls... followed by "Hey Trevor pitched great last night". But there is zero indication that there is a bottom line hit from these types of incidents in other sports or MLB. It's all repuatational hits. Which we have learned have all gone away. They will be brought up every time Bauer pitches, and especially when he gets rocked, but fewer each time. The Astros and time, managed those just fine (amazing how beating the Yankees can make you a feel-good story). There may be employees of the team who are not Atkins or Shapiro that disagree with Bauer coming and will leave (actually a smart thing to do if you are looking to leave as they need to pay you out to get you to sign a non-disclosure). The Raptors once nixed a trade because a female member of Junior Management shared a story about the player to Masai. Masai chose the employee over the trade. The biggest one that hasn't even been mentioned yet is what if Trevor has another incident or is accused of having another incident. That becomes one or both of Shatkins jobs on the line. It's a lot to deal with for a player that JimCanuck has irrevocably said will be terrible.
  19. For the record there is a paper out there on worst franchises just based on the on-field/court/ice success. I believe the winner at the time was the Clippers, but I genuinely can't remember. However, i took the criteria and applied it to post expansion Leafs, and I think they came 12th worst. It must be in a google sheet somewhere. Maybe I will update it for you all... probably not though.
  20. Fastening a woman to your wall is wrong
  21. I genuinely don't think so. I know leagues generally end up getting hurt (2014 NFL had sponsors go on hold for handling of SA situations), more than teams. Individuals almost always lose out, but there is not one case I can find where the team took any financial hit. When the Eagles signed Vick, within a year he was the highest selling jersey in football. I'll look through some studies, I am sure they are out there
  22. I think you are looking at the risks a little incorrectly. The NFL and NBA have proven the "you have lost a fan for life" crowd either comes back or are replaced easily enough. The Heat fans have probably increased the teams jersey sales by burning jerseys when they are angry, then jumping back in the bandwagon. The risk for with Bauer isn't probably in lost revenue, but lost sponsorship, lost programing, and in the case of Rogers reputation loss. The locker room distractions, the cancer in the room s*** is unknown by any of us. I honestly have no clue if front offices ever discuss a signing with a team or coaching staff, but as polarizing as Bauer is to the public, I would think a discussion with as many as possible would be beneficial.
  23. Open market and his 2 years off was him completing his Mormom mission (for some reason being a Mormon is not a PR issue); What is Trevor Bauer's value on the open market? Questioning his value as a baseball player (especially when most of his training during his suspension has been public), seems a little disingenuous. Much of what you and many others say echos the general public opinions on Bauer (accurate or not), but his baseball ceiling is pretty clear.
  24. Lukes has to absolutely kill it in Spring IMO. As a lefty his usefulness is less. He's pretty much a DH here. If they actually like him at all, they will want him playing everyday.
  25. Bucs have 5 catchers on the 40. I don't like the Minor League invite options (Chirinos, Leon, maybe if Alfaro would sign a minor league deal). I'd rather give up a spot to a guy that has been in the org (even if for only a couple weeks) who has an option than use Bec in an emgergency. There might be other similar guys out there, but as big a pain the Pirates are rumoured to be to deal with it was the first team I looked up.
