A fun bunting stats. between 2008 and 2013 49.6% of non-pitchers bunts were in play (sample size of 26,000 bunt attempts) that is just in play. Successful bunts would be lower as that in play number includes pop ups, unsuccessful sacrifice attempts and batters bunting for base hits unsuccessfully. Numbers for bunts are really not good. The most successful bunters in history put it in play 70% of the time. It's not a skill being taught anymore so these numbers have probably gone down and will continue to go down.
