  1. Or players don't want to sign with them...or Free Agency isn't the best way to build a team. OR THEIR REVENUE IS REALLY REALLY LOW and you severely overestimating their ability to spend. In 2017 (the last year I have data for) they were at 46.1% of revenue on salaries, that is below the average of 53.4. However, in that same year they outspent everyone else on staffing and bonuses and that doesn't include player benefits which is shared equally across the league ($14M in 2017). Calculating that number in with salary their % of salaries to revenue is right in line with the entire league. They were saddled with both the worst stadium deal, and second worst TV deal in baseball. They finally hit $50M this year when their new deal hits and it will increase every year over the next 15. Also remember they have to pay St. Pete's $42 million for the rights to leave the city for a better stadium deal. I just think you made a really ill-informed comment speaking like a typical casual fan. Do better!
  2. You are talking about the team with the 6th best record in the MLB over the last 12 years you ignorant f***!
  3. You could hear Mike's heart ripping apart as Nick says "worst article ever" It was so many subjects that could have used Boxy (Bregman extension, Bold Predictions and Sleepers). His absolutes on these subjects would have been a welcome addition.
  4. I don't know what I was writing. I chose Buffalo now. But don't actually believe that could happen. Montreal would make more sense.
  5. Marlins broadcaster. The job he was born to have. Edit...I read JPA. JFAs would make a horrible broadcaster.
  6. he did have a nice smile though. I've done well with predicting failed prospects for the Jays...but the ones I've slapped star labels on to have never really turned out either (TdA, Snider, Marisnick).
  7. Nope you are completely going insane and probably need help... Yes I posted it earlier but deleted it so P2F could get his Radio Scouts article up. I knew no one else would start a thread as the Bold Prediction is my thing every year.
  8. Gurriel leads the offense in fWAR Vlad Jr has 3 IR visits - Fanbase blames the Front Office. Comes back from the 3rd Visit down 20 pounds in the Best Shape of his life. Fanbase blames the Front Office for not forcing it sooner. Stroman starts the All Star game, gets injured at the game - fan base blames the Front Office Elvis does not leave the team - Fanbase blames the front office every time he gets blown up #clearlynotready Jays trade 5 outfielders in 2019 - Fanbase loses it on the Front Office There is a major issues in the dome forcing the Jays to play a series in Buffalo Anthony Alford has multiple on-field altercations with teammates Rest of the League Franmil Reyes leads the league in HR's mid-season Josh Donaldson hits 6 HR's in the first 10 games before injuring his hammy - Blames the Jays front office. The NL has 12 teams within 3 games of .500 on August 1st. Yelich is not in the top 40 OF'ers One of the AL Power Four ends up 10 games under .500 Soto has a sub 110 wRC+ (originally I wrote 100 but changed my mind) San Diego competes for a wildcard. First firing of the season is Clint Hurdle Rays start 3 -12 again. Corey Seager wins NL MVP Josh Hader becomes the first reliever to hit 4.0 fWAR since Gagne. Matt Boyd receives several Cy Young votes MLB has it's second ever k-rate higher than 40% with at least 200 PA's
  9. You got a site that shows his Friday line?
  10. I will re-post mine when I find them.
  11. New top BA 300. Not going to post the whole thing again...but post the important gainers and losers. Vaughn 4 to 2. Misner 33 to 5 Stott 27 to 6 Lodolo 16 to 11 Allan 18 to 12 Hunter Bishop 119 to 13 Langeliers 6 to 15 Malone 10 to 16 Kirby 38 to 19 Rutledge 95 to 20 Bleday 29 to 21 Stewart 15 to 23 Seth Johnson 70 to 29 Holland 17 to 30 Ealy 14 to 32 Canterino 69 to 33 Strumpf 79 to 38 Cavaco out of the top 300 to 39 Scouting Report: The biggest pop-up player in the 2019 class, Cavaco started making noise for himself late in the fall last year, but came out early during the spring showing big-time tools with a potentially average hit tool. Scouts see huge raw power with Cavaco, which grades out as a plus tool presently, while he's also got a plus throwing arm from the hot corner and is an above-average defender at the position. More of an average runner, Cavaco is an impressive athlete who has made strides improving his strength recently. Teams will likely diverge in their opinions on his hitting ability, with less track record and history than many other prep hitters in the class, but he's standing out in a down year in Southern California with few other bats to compete with and could benefit from that this June. Thompson 20 to 40 Stinson 9 to 41 Nelson 25 to 47 Stowers 34 to 48 Wolf NR to 50 Scouting Report: One of several talented Houston-area high school pitchers, Wolf didn't enter the season as famous as Cypress Ranch High righthanders Matthew Thompson and J.J. Goss, but he's elevated himself into that category with strong showings early in the season. Wolf consistently is in the low 90s with his fastball and has reached up to 96, with a curveball that looks like a future plus pitch as well. Wolf is long and lean with some twitchiness on the mound, though he could stand to improve his command in the zone and further develop a changeup that is currently a work in progress.
  12. MLB paid big money to lobby the govt to not include professional athletes excluded from some employee standards law. They aren't going to bother allowing a minor league union that is for sure.
  13. yes and no. Arbitration does comparables but takes into account year over year contracts in comparison to multi year.
  14. Listen to me more often.
  15. Oh s*** I thought HOF ceremonies was just a nice way of saying his wake
  16. I had a "Spanky's deleted posts" document I did for a while, but it became too much to keep up. I'll have to wing it now when we enter him into the HOF.
  17. I didn't even know there were games already I thought it was much closer to the season starting.
  18. As the resident Scott Boras champion. I'd like to point out that Strasburg, Beltre, Varitek & Madson all signed extensions through Boras
  19. A-Rod was never quite as consistent but had 62 fWAR through age 27 (64.9 for Trout). But had an additional 2 seasons (1000 PAs). He produced 51.8 fWAR after his age 27 year (including three 9 win seasons between age 28 and 32). Ken Griffey Jr. only produced about 20 fWAR after his age 27 season but so much of his value came from defense and base-running prior to that. Four players have produced 100 fWAR from age 28 to the end of their career. Bonds and Mays the only two since WWII. Devo, Kenny Lofton, Lance Johnson, Mike Cameron are really quick examples of guys that provided 10+ fWAR from base-running and CF defense alone from age 28 to retirement. In the end I will safely declare that Trout may or may not produce positive value from that contract.
  20. He'll make $20k more per plate appearance than the average median annual family income in the U.S
  21. I went for a win. Ferland is average at everything. But he's 27 and playing under 15 minutes a game. He's not even a top 100 guy and IMO has hit his ceiling. Hayes isn't going to be in Winnipeg next year so I didn't give a s*** about his last 10 games.
  22. He maybe should have did it earlier.
  23. Winky talked to the Radio Scouts about how they have an nutritionist who showed them how to shop (he may have said that they are available at any time to shop with you), but then many of them couldn't afford to eat like they were shown.
  24. Lansing colours are fantastic if they go with baby blue jerseys. May 3rd, 4th and 5th & August 18th are their games List of all the logos. Love the Reyes de Plata de Las Vegas logo. https://www.milb.com/fans/copa/teams?utm_source=email%20promo&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Copa&utm_content=Teams_unveiled
  25. Blue Jays Copa de la Diversion logos. Buffalo and Dunedin not participating
