  1. It's Gose's tenth game, I don't have any thoughts on him so far. The defense has been great but we've always known it would be.
  2. I watch all of Price's starts! His peripherals are pretty crazy. He's getting all the swinging strikes he needs this year and not walking anyone. Velocity has averaged 95 over his last two outings too. I'm worried he'll lose a lot of goodness if the Rays trade him to a team with a bad framer though. You can tell how much he needs Molina/Hanigan.
  3. Indians tie it up again lol. This is crazy. Cleveland will run out of pitchers soon if they don't win already.
  4. Here: http://www.fangraphs.com/coolstandings.aspx BP does them too: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/
  5. WHO IS THIS MAN AND WHAT DID HE DO TO POOR JA HAPP lol

  7. It's a crazy stat (43 points below second-worst) but SN should have dug deeper! I'm sure it's up there as a historically-significant stretch.
  8. He's tweeted 34 times since telling people on Saturday he'd be taking a break. I don't think he knows yet about this.
  9. Hahaha this is great. Texas is paying him a not-nothing salary too: $1.8M. This represents a real failure on their part.
  10. Your offer makes sense, but I'll have to confide with Randy.
  11. He always has been lol, Puig's a stud.
  12. My thing with innings is just that I think, if given enough time to recover between starts, the number of starts you make doesn't matter. I wouldn't consider a pitcher who makes 40 starts in a season, each five days apart and consisting of 100 pitches, to be prone to injury. But I would be worried about a pitcher who starts 20 times in a season, each five days apart and consisting of 120 pitches.
  13. Well, we don't need Hendriks until Saturday. So I assume this guy will just mop up a couple games until being sent down for Hendriks.
  14. What does "remove the shift" even mean? In baseball, you have nine fielders who line up wherever they want on the field. One of them has to pitch to the hitter. All of the designated positions are artificial constructs designed to improve fielding efficiency, just as the shift is. There's nothing sacred about the positions. They used to shift Ted Williams... and baseball teams didn't even use a shortstop for the first years of the game's modern history. The shift is an innovation that even purists can get excited about.
  15. 84 won't take it, but you can't realistically project any of the teams individually to win over 84. Seven wins represents one standard deviation of random chance; it's realistic to expect one of the five teams (who average 82 by Fangraphs) to get that and win 89 or more. Also, I mis-typed: It's actually the Red Sox they have us tied at 84 with.
  16. Francisco was a free agent signing. I'm excited about Hendricks.
  17. Which two? Also, this was a trade!
  18. I know that he got a save recently for the Astros. His PD stats are surprisingly decent.
  19. Your boy Garrett Richards is #20 among starters in FIP over the past calendar year. I dropped him in DDL last June.
  20. Sure, but it's crazy how good Kluber's been! And he was nails in the start he made for me. It's neat nonetheless. I unknowingly dropped one #2 starter for another.
  21. The #15 in fWAR over the past calendar year guy, Corey Kluber. They're literally back-to-back in that department and are the two biggest breakout stories of the past year. I had picked Kluber up four days prior for a spot start, the Indians were promoting him for a double-header. I actually had both pitchers in that game, having picked up Will Smith (who I dropped Joe Kelly for) since I was chasing wins. Didn't think anything of discarding him lol.
  22. You wouldn't believe who I dropped for Porcello. It's embarrassing yet entirely defensible.
  23. lol. Wrong process, right result. Although it's really a breakout calendar year for Porcello -- he's 10th among qualifier in xFIP- over the past year. 16th in fWAR.
