  1. I think the curveball is the preferred breaking ball (although a splitter really is in the changeup class) and it's generally good to eclipse 50% fastballs. That said, nobody really knows why pitchers get hurt and you can't apply a blanket statement to Tanaka. Every pitcher is different.
  2. We should just give up on the season because building the perfect team through trade isn't possible? Come on.
  3. Reimold's an actual Major League hitter. Nothing wrong with him playing everyday for a month+.
  4. That's what people say every time Dickey is good through the first five... As much as Buck/Tabby and others like to say "when he's on, he's on" and that you can tell when the knuckler is really bouncing, you really can't. He's just as likely to blow up as usual.
  5. Yep, the occasional jump throw totally makes up for all those games he's lost us, Mike!
  6. It's not 2004 anymore though, a .250 average is fine. The American League is hitting .254/.319/.396. All of our starters have been recently! It's too bad so much of it is going to waste.
  7. Nah, Angel Stadium suppresses both home runs and overall runs. Definite pitcher's park.
  8. I call BS on this. A mysterious shoulder injury makes you miss routine throws? Also, while he's clearly not hitting as he should be, people expecting 2011 Jose Reyes to return are delusional. That's the only year he's ever had of significantly above-average production. He's a league-average bat.
  9. Daniel Norris is the best.
  10. Ashley Greene and Camilla Belle (I did a Google image search, didn't know who they were).
  11. Four! I took more than ten seconds though...
  12. Exactly! I don't understand it. They should have dozens of high-speed cameras located around the infield and perhaps place sensors on the bags. Millions of dollars are at stake with each call.
  13. Because he can handle a bat!
  14. ROIDS ------ We may actually have a chance in this game now..
  15. So far the only legitimate rumour regarding Headley to the Jays is Morosi saying they had been "in discussion." Teams are in discussion all the time. Doesn't seem like anything is likely/imminent.
  16. Forget Nelson Cruz, Alfonso Soriano will be MVP!
  17. Reimold will be playing every day though, won't he? RF Reimold 1B Bautista DH Lind / Gillespie CF Rasmus / Mastroianni 3B Francisco 2B Tolleson / Kawasaki When Bautista is healthier, they can slide him over to third against lefties to take Francisco out of the lineup.
  18. It's an embarrassment. The best you can come up with in a pennant race is Cole Gillespie and Darin Mastroianni? And you had $130MM to spent on players?
  19. Bold prediction: We're going to destroy Jered Weaver! Go Jays!
  20. It's the right idea but Mastro and Gillespie just aren't Major League players.
  21. People don't make their toast in the tub? You guys are missing out.
  22. I don't know if I would prefer one of those guys. Better to give up nothing to get Headley and have a whole offseason to find a long-term RF/3B/2B solution than to pay through the nose right now for an aging star IMO.
  23. MLB surprise: Johnny Cueto. I expected him to be a good starting pitcher who chipped in across the board, but I didn't quite expect the ace he's been. The sheer number of innings Cueto has thrown of dominant ratios has been outstanding and a big part of why my starting pitching has been among the the league's top three teams. All of my pitchers save for Homer Bailey (whose peripherals are fine and I still believe in) have been great. MLB disappointment: Brian McCann (and Joe Mauer before him). Neither have done anything this year and it's sure frustrating. I still like McCann long-term though and will likely ride it out. ------ Nothing really to report on the prospect front. I traded just about all my 2013 prospect draftees and cut loose or promoted the rest, keeping top Brewers hitting prospects Tyrone Taylor and Orlando Arcia as they've been hitting at a decent clip relative to their age and are said to be in the ~110-150 range of overall prospects. Then I loaded up with 10 new prospects that I fancy.
  24. I'm not sure what you want. A significant boost would cost a significant amount in prospects and there aren't any such players available anyway (the Rangers aren't shopping Adrian Beltre). Headley is a tangible boost and won't cost much/anything. Why not go for him. ------- His batted ball profile is in line with previous seasons. He definitely has room to grow in BABIP.
