  1. No, his defense and the luck dragons have been bad. McCarthy has been one of the best pitchers in the National League.
  2. Nope. It's a straight-up swap. Arizona just happy to free up some $$.
  3. Just watch the umps screw us... it's going to happen. Out
  4. Buehrle has a 5.56 xFIP tonight and Kazmir a 1.93. This isn't bad luck.
  5. Yes? Teams don't usually have more than a couple guys through the offseason who are out for an additional extended period anyway, since Tommy John is more prevalent in April/May. There's lots of roster manipulation going on after the season ends.
  6. Nah they were forcefully activated at some point. If you could spent the whole offseason on the 60 day, every team would put everyone on it.
  7. Not even a .350 BABIP would make his line look good though. That's what makes his career 45 wRC+ so fascinating. It's hard to be that bad with a just-below-average BABIP (.267).
  8. They are business days though! The season is 182 days long. Players get paid by the day, not the game.
  9. Jeff Samardzija looks so happy lol. Good for him and the A's.
  10. WAR doesn't pretend to be predictive though. It's fair to call Rasmus an average CF going forward IMO. I don't have a problem with the Rasmus haters even if he's not as bad as some say he is. He's not our answer long-term.
  11. I'm surprised Brad Glenn knew what to do when he got to four balls. We're in uncharted territory.
  12. A's broadcasters ripping Reyes for not running. Very stupid of him. Alright I'll switch over to the Jays feed and do this lol
  13. His total lack of production at the big league level is a much bigger contributor to him not being here.
  14. Howard and Utley! Both were elite sluggers from 2006-2010.
  15. #TeamEntropy! Cheering for crazy tiebreaker scenarios is a lot of fun.
  16. Was out last night so didn't hear about this as it happened... WOW!! Great haul for Chicago. Elite prospects like Russell are almost impossible to acquire. If you can get one it doesn't matter if they play the same position or have a similar profile as the elite prospects you already have -- Russell is of immense value to any team. Throwing in Hammel to do that is a no-brainer. I'm sure the Cubs pounced as soon as Oakland told them Russell was available. That said, it makes sense for Oakland too. Now they're prohibitive favourites in the AL. And they take two top targets away from their competitors. Look for Oakland to re-trade Samardzija in the offseason at next year's deadline for a good return; what Milwaukee did with Greinke comes to mind. They're not just trading for 50 starts of Samardzija, they're trading for him as a tradeable asset.
  17. I just felt weird seeing Jesus Montero give a curtain call for the Yankees. Jesus Montero! You're probably right though.
  18. The Houston Astros are the best team in baseball: win% in extra innings: .571 win% against the White Sox: .667 win% in May: .517 win% against the Diamondbacks: .750 win% on the road: .400 Throw out that 'anomalous' road record, consider the other various records above and arbitrarily average them and they're the best team in the Majors Leagues!
