  1. The Jays would pinch-hit anyway if they went to a lefty, you'd gain nothing. This is the right move. Juan strikes out a lot against righties too.
  2. They should pinch hit... need someone who can put the ball in play. Because some things are more important than winning.
  3. Jays win probability went up 4.6 percentage points with the walk.
  4. I'm serious! Being able to tell within an inch where a small round projectile that travels at 90+ mph while breaking as much as a foot in two dimensions crosses a pentagonal plane at a height that depends on the batter's stance is unpossible. It's unfair to expect the umps to be perfect (or close to it) because they're not endowed with the tools to do so.
  5. You have the umps because they didn't have computers in the 1880s. The umps should be given computer aids (like Google Glass or just relayed balls/strikes through a headset) because as humans they're not able to accurately discern where the ball crossed the plate. Not because they're lazy/bad at their jobs. It should be about helping the umps, not crucifying or replacing them.
  6. It's not the ump's fault. He's simply not physically able to tell where the ball crosses the plate, none of the umps are. They guess.
  7. You don't have to do it until the February cut-down.
  8. Forget banning the shift, if Selig doesn't ban Greg Holland's slider it will tear the universe apart. Good Lord what a pitch.
  9. It's more of a clean house thing. The draft pick position has marginal value since they're not going to get into the protected top 10 (although after last offseason it probably wouldn't matter anyway lol).
  10. How low do the Blue Jays playoff odds need to go for us to start cheering against the team?
  11. What would you think about the NBA shaving the playoffs down to four teams and playing best-of-15 series'?
  12. It's so annoying how people base their enjoyment of a team's season on if they made the playoffs are not. It's not even their fault either, it's how the sports leagues/media have conditioned us. I'd rather see the Blue Jays win 93 and not make the playoffs than win 85 and claim the second wild card. Even if they advance to the ALDS. Be a great team. That should be every team's goal. Great teams are worth watching and getting excited over.
  13. Basketball season doesn't start in three months, it starts in April or whenever the playoffs start. The regular season is just meaningless filler. Baseball's going the same way if they keep adding wild cards. The Blue Jays aren't a great team and don't deserve to be in the mix for anything.
  14. Casey has a 4.15 xFIP on the year. He deserved this.
  15. Just a general observation I guess. Cruz last year: .266/.327/.506 (121 wRC+) Cruz this year: .258/.327/.506 (127 wRC+) That's amazingly close!
  16. I think he was just taking a big lead with two outs. That it seemed like a SB attempt amplified the fact that Alburquerque balked.
  17. lol it's pretty funny/awkward that there's a three-team deal agreed to and made public that can't happen for weeks. What's the justification behind the no-trade rule?
  18. No, he was just never actually an elite hitter lol. Players, for the most part, are who they are. Cruz's numbers are remarkably similar to last year's.
  19. San Francisco ties the Royals at 2. There are so many other teams now in our vicinity that we'll gain ground no matter what. That's a bad thing though lol, you'd rather be in first with only one team biting at your heels. Cleveland and maybe KC and Seattle could lose.
  20. lol I read that too while reviewing Roark earlier today. DeGrom seems like a Guy.
  21. What a selfish POS. Clearly Rasmus is just thinking about his impending free agency, driving that average up.
  22. What I do is save the table as a CSV then convert it to bbcode using this tool: http://charles-reace.com/Kindle_Hacks/csv2bbcode/ You can then post that output.
  23. He has several swinging strikes in the zone with his fastball. That's a great sign.
