    if the ligament is torn it's more a case of whether he will make it worse or not if he plays and pain level. It takes months for a ligament to heal and it might need to be operated on to repair it. This is really bad if it's actually torn.

    exactly... but when they get to AA they need to start building arm strength and learning how to pitch when they get tired. That's a skill that is learned with time and experience.

    Fine for first season max two for high school kids it's ok, but after low A he's a hindrance to the development of starters.

    I'm not talking about this year. I'd like to see them try next year. Tell him he needs to prepare to start next spring and see how it goes during ST. This year they need him where is and trying to change mid season would make no sense

    and what if he could be a 7 innings/start shut down starter? It's not a horrible idea to take a look a stretching him out and see how it turns out. He can always go back to the pen.
