  1. I'd rather see Boni and Blanco gone.
  2. it's a team problem. not just coaching. it's the way the jays do things. they need to change fundamentally from Beeston down. if they start ST with a different attitude, they might be ready by season start. Gibbons runs the routine he's been told to. I doubt he had much say.
  3. none of the big names are leaving now. but some of the other guys could easily be moved. it's up to AA and what he thinks he is doing(not doing) AA might already be preparing to throw up the white flag in july. we dont know. at least AA seems to have stopped picking through the recycle bin.
  4. not sure why AA is out of the loop. Buck talked about Reyes being out of the boot and rehabbing back in NY??
  5. not sure why people are discussing this. Gibbons has been making all the right moves with the team that he has to work with. it's all on the players now. the players need to take personal responsibility for their actions on the field and play smart.
  6. other teams starters where getting 4-5AB almost every day. our stars never travelled, so all they got was cage work, which is NOT the same. the starters pitched simulated games or A ball games. that is not the same as facing top hitters in a real game environment. so the bats came into the season slow, the pitchers came in with pitch limits and the defense was all over the place. it's only the last few games where we can see them getting close to what they should have been April 1st.
  7. Colby has been better the last games, as has been almost everyone on the team. even saturday, the team had better AB but just couldn't get that 1 big hit when they needed it. things are changing. it's just taking time. I still think a lot of it has to do with the lack of quality in ST. too many lazy days for the vets and running a bunch of guys who they already knew were never going to make the team. Jays are just now getting up to speed. that's on ownership and Gibbons.
  8. he's just trying to do to much. he's a month behind everyone else and is trying to catch up all in one game. if Reyes hadn't gotten hurt, Lawrie would have gotten another week or so to get up to speed in the minors. Mottola will get him squared away once he's fixed Colby.
  9. I've counted 4 times where a ball 4 way off the plate was called a strike 3 for JPA. so he has had to deal with ump ******** too.
  10. Jays have scored 18 runs in 2 games with 27 hits. if the pitching isn't completely awful they will have a chance in most games. just have to stay humble and play hard every day.
  11. DH, RF to Give Jose a night as DH for a bit of a rest. I'm sure they can rotate him in for enough AB.
  12. the Board is 2-0. so lets hope Fatcow rolls out a 3-0 GDT today!! it's all on the kid. lol hope he copes with the pressure.
  13. yet Wilner has been talking the team up since last Nov. need to keep the magic moving. lets have the first 3 game win streak tonight!!!
  14. that was over the stands and off the back wall. big fly!!
  15. they would have time to give them a couple weeks, but not more, if they have to make a JJ trade.
  16. must feel nice for Wilner to be able to say nice things about the jays and have them actually be true. lol
  17. Sierra as a RH DH/bench bat would be so good to have. they are missing an extra power bat. cant expect DeRosa to be the hero every night. lol
  18. the only problem with hitting Lind leadoff is that he is slower than a sloth. it would be station to station. better to hit him second because you have the power guys coming after and they can knock him in with a HR. Jose is starting to be a hitter again and not just a swinger. he's had some more patient AB lately. he still whines way to much, but it's getting better. the whole team has been getting better. less capitulation on the defense and more patient AB. if they can get a couple solid starts, they could get on a roll. last nights come back has to help them see what CAN happen if they play good ball.
  19. if they can get a strike throwing Drabek back, he would at least be a good long man in the pen to start. if both Drabek and Hutch come back and pitch well, the jays can perhaps trade JJ at the deadline and bring in some more pieces for a run and next year.
  20. I think part of the problem to start the year was arrogance. too many players bought into the hype and thought they'd just win. when they didn't win they panicked and that made things worse. they have finally stop playing bad baseball and are close to playing good baseball. all the Gibbons haters can get off that band wagon. he has made all the right moves. Mottola has been saying all the right things to the hitters and it appears they are starting to buy in. Lind was the first. have to give him credit for making changes. (I thought he had his first dinger last night on the first pitch foul ball.) lets hope they can have their first 3 game winning streak tonight. that would guarantee them a split and maybe they could win the 4 game series. baby steps
  21. 1 win at a time.... just play good ball and it could still be a very good season. but no more bloody seven run innings from out pitching!!!!! today was a miracle. we will need more miracles, I just hope they dont have to be such monumental come from behinds.
  22. righteously a rain maker.... that was forever gone.
  23. in a couple weaks they'll have separate the wheat from the chaff. most peeps here are just looking for other people who really want good things to happen so we can all cheer together.
