  1. I guess we'll never know but it stings either way. Hopefully Ross and Mark can give the team a nice overhaul to ease the pain
  2. Sounds about right. Though I seriously doubt Ohtani really ever gave the Jays any serious consideration. His agents were likely the ones leaking this false information to certain people, and Morosi decided to run with it, along with this Dodgers Hoornstra guy. Don't forget that Robert Herjavec is also represented by CAA and did nothing to quell the rumors mid-flight. He also had that Instagram post ready to go pretty much immediately after word got out. It was all a big setup and I can't help but lose some respect for Ohtani if this is all true and he was in on it. I'm sure more will come out in the coming days/weeks.
  3. Read that Robert Herjavec is also represented by CAA... Funny that he didn't let anyone in on the fact that he was the one making the flight to TO despite having every opportunity to do so. Looking more like an orchestrated inside job to use the Jays as leverage.
  4. Without Shohei fever gripping the team, I'm honestly ok with wholesale changes in the roster. Not interested in tanking, but a significant overhaul would be welcome. Not sure I could be happy with losing out on Ohtani and then suffering another abysmal, boring (though playoff bound) season.
  5. I hope there is a great player out there to trade for. Would help get rid of the second fiddle stigma. Make the team more attractive before going after FAs. Hopefully Mark and Ross were keeping some fires going on the back burner - not much time now that the dominos will start falling.
  6. Wonder how this impacts how other FAs will feel about coming to Toronto, to potentially be seen as a plan B compared to Ohtani. Money talks, but that perceived stigma might be a deciding factor in a player choosing to play somewhere else.
  7. Wonder if we had traded for Soto if it would have proved to Shohei that we would do whatever it takes to win. Tough to look at our lineup without a bat like that, and compare it to what the Dodgers have.
  8. Jays used as leverage yet again. Despite the ridiculousness of the contract it would have been amazing for the team, city and country.
  9. Too good to be true; it wasn't our money anyways but that's just a crazy amount of it.
  10. Way to throw your coach under the bus. Whatever faith I might've still had in Atkins is completely gone. What a terrible look for a leader to say things like this. He's got to go.
  11. Lost a lot of respect for the organization this week. First, the slap in the face to Jay Jackson on the last day of the season. Second, following the analytics SO CLOSELY today pulling Berrios, but not following them AT ALL yesterday by even pitching Gausman. Who is making these decisions?? Speaking of Berrios, what a ******** thing to do to your horse who came back from a bad year last year to fully resurrect himself this season. The biggest game in his life against his former team, in a do-or-die situation, with all his family and friends invited to the game, AND in a situation where he was absolutely shoving. You pull the guy after 47 pitches?!??! These brain-dead analytic khaki clowns may have soured so many current and potential future players with this horseshit. UGLY season with an even uglier end. Gross.
  12. If Chapman hits that ball a couple feet further then we win. If Bo doesn't screw up that bases loaded play then the outlook changes completely for the rest of the game. Don't know why we didn't challenge for blocking the plate. Lots of bad luck in this game but we were never out of it. We have a great chance to get back into this tomorrow.
  13. Bad luck! Great play though. Let's get em tomorrow!
  14. Great half inning. Let's go bats!!
  15. Hit to *exactly* the wrong part of the field, lol. Gotta love baseball
  16. We need a big hit or two... Is our lineup up to the task??
  17. Blocking the plate? Why not challenge?
  18. Looks like poopy Gausman showed up today
  19. We are better than this. Let's pick up Gausman next half.
  20. Astros up 8-0. Who would we rather face if we make it to the DS? Houston or Texas? Moot point now, Seattle wins 1-0. Bring on Minnie and Houston!
  21. RIP Tim Wakefield. f*** cancer.
  22. So let's tank tomorrow and hope Seattle wants to go out with a good final effort and Houston wants to win their division.
