That's too bad but Vlad looked to be hustling and it took a perfect throw to get him. He probably thought there might be a play at the plate. That's just baseball. Great half inning regardless.
Can't even remember a single time Varsho did anything clutch this season outside of that grand slam 4 months ago. Simply a lost season and such a frustrating player to watch, especially with his declining defense. We should be so lucky to offload him ahead of the deadline.
Seriously though, big respect. Huge underdog, needing to better 11 home runs by the hometown hero in the final, hitting 6 straight clutch homers to pull it off with 40,000 phans booing him and cheering every miss. Ice in his veins.
Gotta give props to Schneider for IBBing Soto to bring Bichette to the plate. It was the right call but he would've been absolutely crucified if Bichette tied the game or gave the Mets the lead. About time the team had something work out in their favour and it wound up being a big turning point in the game.
Finding ways to lose, this team has no magic this year. Feeling hung over from almost wining the WS seems to be doing a number on everyone. This season seems lost at this point but hopefully a fresh start in 2027 is in the cards.
I get that he's trying to protect Hoffman but I question him throwing the team's best hitter under the bus publicly. Agreed he could've found a more diplomatic way to say that.
It was a GREAT catch true, but you're at 2nd base, already in scoring position. You go halfway and if he catches it then you can tip your cap. If he misses it, you're home easy while chases down the ball. Just a comically braid dead play.
The only solution is to put him in the home run derby. Either he finds his swing, or is so embarrassed that he has to actually work on fixing his swing.
