Same thing they did this season likely. BV is a good defensive catcher but his bat needs work. He's still a backup.

The 2021-25 Jays was a hell of a run, definitely by this franchise’s standards. Springer was a huge part of that and left his mark on the org.

When he was playing regularly his bat was good. Obviously fell off without regular playing time. 90 games and 2 fWAR is amazing.

You're talking about basically a ~120-~140 PA sample size. Not exactly a track record to make judgements on

Given he has little to no track record of sustained success with the bat in the minors - it's highly likely that what we saw was a hot streak.  He's probably just a good backup.  Nothing wrong with that.
